Re: Screenshots
There is some truth to this, insofar as in vanilla Oolite "civilian" lasers are red, police lasers are magenta, and thargoid lasers are green. It still seems dependent of ship type, rather than of laser type. What I would like is something like red for pulse laser, orange for beam laser, ...

I was not aware that this was actually an academic subject, but it got me thinking. It occurs to me that the Philosophy of Science might vary from place to place. So here are my Global variations in the Philosophy of Science. Europe:- A way to spend Billions proving that something tiny exists. Afri...

Re: Screenshots
Quite a lightshow. Now an oxp that let's you choose a color when you buy a laser. :D I don't think I would install such an OXP, I like that the colour reflects what kind of laser (miner, pulse, beam, military, police, thargoid) is being used. 1.77 looks great. When it is planned to replace 1.76.1? ...

Ahh.. by the late great Eric Frank Russell.. I wasn't aware of that story, though.. I know him from one of my favourite anarchist scifi stories, And Then There Were None . He's credited with having originated the expression "myob" for "Mind your own business" which appeared in t...

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous - Kickstarter!
I read a novel a few years ago (have been struggling to think of name all morning!) that was effectively a dozen short stories conjoined by a common narrative Could that be the Elite/Frontier Huge Plasma Accelerator (HPA) Saga ? (Oh, mistaking this thread for the Science Fiction Trivia one  )

Life on Mars?
Will this gentleman get an answer to his question? John Grotzinger, the principal investigator for the Mars rover mission, says they recently put a soil sample in SAM, and the analysis shows something earthshaking. "This data is gonna be one for the history books. It's looking really good."...

Re: [WiP]Ship's Cat OXP
Wow!
I love cats, but I'm unfortunately allergic to them.
Thanks to this OXP I can have one which does not make me tear and which doesn't upset my breathing.

Re: Joystick (or flight yoke) for Oolite on Linux?
Thanks, all, for the fine advise!
I'll try the recommended joysticks over the next few weeks.
Nobody is playing Oolite with a flight yoke?

I've been playing with the keyboard until now, but I intend to buy a joystick and I'm looking for advise. Anybody have good experience playing Oolite on Linux with a joystick? Which one would you recommend? Should I go for a digital or for an analog joystick? I found this list with supported joystic...
