Oolite wants triangles. So before you start exporting you must divide all four-angles in triangles. Wings has a command to do that in one click. Thanks, I'll check that out. One other thing re. textures. I've just tried the following in Wings but wonder if Oolite supports it - I took a cube and tex...
Cheers guys, thanks for the info and compliments! :D @Smivs, I'll definitely follow your tutorial and see what happens - thanks! @Kaks. not quite sure what you mean by "Oolite can use more than one texture file per model, however obj2datTex.py will only export the first texture" Does that ...
Hi guys, I'm still plodding along learning Wings3D in my spare time, but I have a couple of questions re. texturing. Firstly, I've seen a couple of walkthroughs on websites where they show an object using multiple texture sheets instead of just one. Is this supported by Oolite? Secondly, can anyone ...
Thanks for the compliments and especially the links guys - very helpful! :D After several new attempts I've got the pipes and bends to work correctly. You're right about the quirky controls & menus - depending on the option first selected the mouse buttons can do some bizarre functions. Somethin...
Hi guys, I installed Wings3D a couple of days ago but I have a question re. one of the website tutorials that advises me to implement the 'Advanced Controls', but I can't find the option anywhere! Here's the website, it's to do with pipes and joints in Wings: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Wings_3D/Tu...
saying that tho, there's potential for a spin off idea here : what about these items having a "bounty" : because these things are very rare i reckon if you chance across one you could take a pic of it and be paid for it by news companies when you dock. That's why I suggested giving it a h...
Leaving the orbiting satellites issue aside for a second, what about the idea of random encounters with space probes elsewhere in the system? Is it possible for a probe like Voyager for example, to be added to the game moving at quite a high speed in a random direction so that you may or may not com...
Aside from the question of scale, coding something to "properly" orbit (as opposed to sitting at the same place above a planet that's spinning underneath it like a station does) it do-able but tricky. Perhaps leaving the planetary satellites in geostationary orbit would suffice. But that'...
Aside from the question of scale, coding something to "properly" orbit (as opposed to sitting at the same place above a planet that's spinning underneath it like a station does) it do-able but tricky. Perhaps leaving the planetary satellites in geostationary orbit would suffice. After all...
I think adding random, potentially unusual encounters like this helps to add to the depth of the game. That's the idea. Imagine coming across the Voyager, Mariner or Messenger probes when you least expect it. Given their age they could be worth a small fortune to 'collectors' for example. Other fic...
Hi guys, I'm hoping to get back into Oolite in the coming weeks - I've been away from the game for some time and I see we have a new release! :D I was thinking about the game and the possibility of seeing deep-space objects or probes when travelling. Seeing the likes of the Voyager probe could be in...
Hi Svengali, thanks for the test file. As you can see from the screenshot below it appears fine. I removed all OXP's and only added this one (to speed up viewing etc.), and it works with Threading Optimisation set to On or OFF, and with Shaders at FULL. :D Cheers, Px4 http://thumbnails13.imagebam.co...
