Run Oolite from USB stick?
Is there anything special one needs to do to make Oolite run from removable media?

Laser fights between clean ships?
Several times now, I've jumped into systems and seen flashes of laser fire in the distance. When I blast up to the fight with afterburners, I find a couple of clean ships shooting at a 3rd clean ship. Currently I'm seeing a couple of Sidewinder Scouts (Clean) chasing a Python (Clean) and shooting at...

As for those little numbers...what you buy/sell on open market are actually just leftovers. Most of cargo is moved via cargo contracts you can get. That is also reason why you can't really affect the economy, even when you shuffle full PCC from Xexedi to Laenin and back. For the limit..well, I beli...

Re: Building Oolite Windows from source - The Easier Way
From the OP { big snip } Instructions on how to build an Oolite trunk executable from zero: IMPORTANT: The zip file you downloaded must be unzipped maintaining all paths under the root folder of the D drive (D:\). This is the only catch with the package. Due to the way GNUstep sets up its paths by u...

Wades, this might well be a red herring, but the javascript dll is specifically compiled for 32 bits windows, so it might cause some problems... There was a reply on the other thread: If I am not mistaken, Screet is building on 32-bit, then runs it on different, 64-bit system. At least, that's what...

Probably I should read about commodity.plist, but Oolite is not set up for the complicated relations between economies and prices which Trigg has in mind. It is set up for the simple linear increase or decrease between Poor Agr and Rich Ind which we find in-game. That doesn't mean it is impossible t...

If you have built the exe with the latest GNUstep, then you need the newest gnustep-base dll in the oolite.app folder. What are the contents of the oolite.app folder you are trying to run the exe from? c:/oolite-build/GNUstep/Local/oolite/trunk/oolite.app: total used in directory 10637 available 61...

Re: ..
If I am not mistaken, Screet is building on 32-bit, then runs it on different, 64-bit system. At least, that's what I remembered from the last time he posted about this. This is how I am doing it. IIRC, if I build directly on Win64 (Vista x64 Ultimate, 6GB Ram), MinGW opens 127 windows (command pro...

The zipped development environment package I uploaded in the first post should contain all you need to build the game. You don't need any Local_XXXX file anymore. Just stick with the instructions in the first post in this thread and ignore the wiki ones. I have to note though, that if you have prob...

OK, looks like I unzipped the Local_20090108.zip file incorrectly (I'm using the instructions at the wiki). I wound up with D:\GNUstep\Local\Local_20090108, doubtless not what was intended.
When I do it the right way (so that I wind up with /Local/bin, /Local/include, etc.) it seems to be flying.

I tried both the instructions in the wiki and those in the OP, and am not getting past step 0. When I try to open the gnustep shell (by running from the start menu using the packages from gnustep.org, or by running msys.bat in the OP) I get, looks like, 129 of instances of rxvt which all immediately...
