Bit of a long 'un, this, but here's my 'Oolite space sounds' playlist form Songbird, it's in Artist/Album for the uninitiated. Autechre - LP5 Bad Sector - Kosmodrom * Bichi - Notwithstanding Bill Laswell - City of Light * Biotron Shelf - 33 Minutes North * Biotron Shelf - Transmissions * Cab Calloww...

It's brilliant, really enjoyed this but then again I also recently loved GI Joe (in a different way but not an ironic one).

Yep, the thing that first enticed me as a youngster to get involved with Jeff's worlds and work (albeit many years later) was his correspondence, he blogged in newsletters and compunet way before the internet took off. Twitter and the rejuvenated blog on the llamasoft website are the modern equivale...

Yeah, Vice should do you quite nicely on any PC for normal 8 bit commodore machines.

Ownership is not a prerequisite, mind. Jeff declared all his 8-bit and some 16 bit (I think, please check!) titles freely available some years ago. Everyone feel free to get stuck in.

Glad you like it, DaddyHoggy. Check out the Llamasoft website and click about for much Minter related sheepery a la the old Grunting Ox newsletters, plus Sheepintology - a best practice guide to maximising scores and finding new mechanics in the game - there's a lot more hand-holding in this than in...

Have a crack at the demo then and tell us what you think...

Also it's Jeff and Giles now, he's augmented the Llamasoft stable wiht an Italian cooking/maths/code genius to handle the extra code grunt modern systems insist upon.

Just wonderful :)

Come a long way from the Vic 20 version (this and C64 versions included).

'Better' ships than Cobra MkIII?

I appreciate we've all started out with the MkIII and loved it, it's a cracking all-rounder. Fighters and traders can part-ex their MkIII for something more appropriate, but are there any standard or non-standard ships which improve stat wise on the MkIII in all areas? I'm playing as basically a tra...

It would be a huge effort to port, as Oolite is written with 'OpenGL' and XBox uses Microsoft's DirectX, which is roughly equivalent and not very compatible. Then there's the open source community basis of Oolite, which David Breadbin doesn't mind - if there was suddenly money changing hands Oolite ...

In any case, I kind a love the term.. asploided , like telling your ship was destroyed by an Asp. I do ...

Is the ATI fix good to go, because I get the impression I'm not the only one who would presently be cracking on with some serious Ooliting were it not for the 'space full of squares' bother. And here I went out and bought a new graph card just to play Oolite!! Mine was a new card, last November. I'...

An update with that alone would, if it is solid, be a massive bonus.

I wasn't referring to the FF, which I have no intention of using. It does however look like a lot of joystick for the money, anyone looking to get into Oolite without spending fifty quid on a controller could perhaps do worse, given that the majority of PC joysticks are shite and will degrade rapidl...
