Sounds
Hi guys, having returned to Oolite after 6 months I find my system is running in 'extreme quiet mode' with next to no sounds after a commander is loaded. I must have switched sounds off by mistake. Any advice on what to do to switch them on again? sorry for the simple question but I am not enjoying ...

Ooliters Anonymous
I am off to join Ooliters Anonymous, for anyone else interested it is in the real world in a scruffy hoopy bar just north of Watford on dark nights. One month is enough for me, this game is so amazing life becomes a black hole! So its some tennis, summer sun and tripping in a van around France / Spa...

Interesting Screet - I will try Thargoid's planetfall and see what you can do there - thargoid's goodies always add value. For Micha, yes I see your point of view and understand that the mechanics of Elite were probably the reason for this. I too, like the fun bits, but given the huge range of possi...

Shipshapes
For all you developers who know how to generate and tweak these things: I am puzzled by the vast majority of ship designs. As an architect by trade (form follows function) why are most ship designs essentially for ships which need to land on planets? (i.e. they look like aircraft / shuttle derivativ...

Thanks for the link Disembodied, and I see the passenger cargo debate is well underway. Good for Another Commander I look forward to seeing which options are chosen. Howver, I still think there is a lot of scope to do something about cargo contracts too, the incentive simply isn't there at current r...

Hi Wortsenawl Yes I know how you feel, I was at your stage too about a month ago. Don't loose heart, it is great fun when you get going. To start, see my post called 'Hitch Hiker's Guide for Beginners' on the forum. Ansewerig your questions: You are going to be jumped and attacked as you state when ...

The Maths on Cargo / passenger Transporting
I am interested in developers' views on the maths on Cargo / passenger contract returns. They continue to make no sense. I have exchanged, temporarily to a 150 ton L crate Transporter (yes, I know, no teeth, but am now making 30,000 credits / hour to allow me to get a bigger ship as a beginner and I...

Eddie stobart Route to Money
As a final on this I found an interesting way to increase the cash gain route today exponentially. It is as follows: Load Oo-Haul OXP and exchange your ship for an L crate Transporter (cheap 150 ton carrier, no way to load weapons), but with reasonable speed. Buy one with Advance Space Compass, if a...

Thanks to Captain Sumo for adding to the debate. 'Dangerous' by 100,000 credits can be taken two ways; I reached dangerous at this figure, but it might mean that I am a very poor trader compared to him. I have to admit to enjoying the scraps, to relieve the boredom, but watch it, as your score gets ...

Ships and Realistic Shipyards
Hmm! Started a debate here amongst you guys who really know what you are at!! All above my poor non PC skull! However, for other less able players, I have reverted to printing out the full ship list available on ships under the OXP link and loaded a few I like the look of, with the tight price range...
