Generally it is assumed that a particular repository (or apt-line) is for a specific version of Linux, instead of having packages from various different versions all mashed together. This is certainly the case for the repositories on 'debs.oolite.org'. Hmm? Per-kernel repositories? Are you sure abo...

People sometimes get put-off from Playdeb when they realise they have to follow the instructions given to enable access to some repositories. Well, same thing for the Oolite debs. But until there's a new stable version of Oolite, there's no way it'll get updated in the official distro repositories (...

Re: PC Joystick setup
There is one (in trunk). Not flashing, though.Diziet Sma wrote:I just wanted to bump this thread to ask if it is currently possible to do as Cmdr Wyvern suggests above, and have an indicator (preferably flashing) on the HUD to show that precision mode is engaged.

PS: no tweaks to the mass formula though... Why not? I think the subentities mass still could do with fixing: mass += 20.0 * [(ShipEntity *)subent volume]; It uses no density parameter. With small subs no problem, but some ships have big subs. e.g. with the torus stations only the small core is mai...

The huge leap from the Anaconda to the Kirins is more puzzling though. I would never have thought the Kirin would weigh in at almost 10x the mass of an Anaconda. Is it the complexity of the model that does it? No; I think that it's the number of meshes (one, ignoring turrets), giving one bounding b...

After re-reading this entire thread, I've come up with a suggested formula to calculate fuel consumption/price. Based on the standard formula y = ax^n + bx + c I'd suggest using either using the linear bx or the exponential ac^n for simplicity's sake. Using an updated patch which allows use of that...

I've tweaked the patch a bit. It now scales the scooping speed and the fuel price according to the calculated ‘mass’ of the ship (as used for wormholes), relative to the ‘mass’ of the Cobra Mk. 3.
In strict mode, it's always 1; but then, you always have a Cobra Mk. 3…

Disembodied - I like the idea of having the fuel cost/consumption attribute being in the plists, especially as it gives individual control to both creators and players to assign stats that they think fit the overall feel of the ship. Certainly if the attribute was in plists, I'd be going to town on...

I just tried to e-mail AMD/ATI and got this: Email Submission Form is Temporarily Unavailable […] FWIW, open-source 3D support for the R600- and R700-series cards (basically, RadeonHD [2-4]xxx) isn't that far away… actually, I think that it's here now if you're prepared to build some things from gi...

Re: Slow Oolite in openSUSE
My problem is Oolite (versions 1.73.4 and 1.65) running very slow in openSUSE 11.2 (~4FPS) with ATI x300 video card. The usual cause on R300-series cards when using Mesa xf86-video-ati is anti-aliased line drawing. For some reason, this isn't accelerated. The solution is simple: run driconf (instal...
