GN requires the "behemoth" OXP IIRC, that may be the source of your stderr messages.

Well Commander Luke, I was going to put this question in a separate thread, but as it seems connected to your discussion, I'll add it here: Does reputation improve with punctuality? In other words, is it better for my reputation if I deliver the goods 7 days ahead of deadline than if I deliver 1 da...

OK, I haven't come close to trying out all OXPs yet. Do you have the names of one in particular that addresses targetting?

modernized targetting system

The oolite targetting system is really primitive. Simple "friend or foe" displays were sufficient for classic Elite, but become very frustrating in larger battles and missions where specific ships must be located and monitored. Managing large group of mixed friends and enemies is very conf...

Thanks for the info. I have many dozens perhaps hundreds of docks by now without a single offer, so something else is probably going on.

The next version (already started to rescript it) has some new implemented code to help the player. One is a function that checks the status of the player and will reposition Harkovs to players position (outside scanner range). The other thing is equipment that will be offered after a few successfu...

No comments on the change, so people agree? Right now once you make perfect reputation, you've got probably 1 or 2 long hauls before your reputation erodes. If you've switched to a small ship in the mean time, you're stuck with a less than perfect reputation and can't get the good contracts without ...

How, exactly, to start OoHaul mission?

I have OoHaul installed, I see the OoHauler freighters around everywhere. I have YourAdHere installed, I've visited Pi-42 and the other convenience stores probably hundreds of times now, but never any offers of OoHaul contracts. I've read the mission wiki on Oohaul and I seem to have fulfilled all t...

Thanks, that was helpful. Yes, I was talking about the UPS boa. I was focusing only on the entry -> station lane since I got the advice to do that for RandomHits so assumed all mission targets were on that line. The times when I eventually did find the boa was when I ignored all other pirate activit...

Well I finally found the UPC courier ships, and here's how I did it: I kept hypering out of and back in to the system I was supposed to search, because I think entering a system is when the ships are generated "afresh." I know that doesn't work for all OXPs, but it seemed to work in this c...

Best ways to "search for" ships in missions?

Is there anywhere else but the space lane where one should look for ships which you're supposed to find in a mission? Is there a way to look in to the save file to see if the ships are there and/or if the mission is busted? I'm doing the UPS courier "kill the ship and bring us the cargo" m...

I just noticed something, maybe this is the problem. I had one of those little red "x"s on a planet ("Diora" in galaxy 1) that I wondered where it came from, but no mission text in "F5" to say what's happening in Diora. When the "Battle is Over in Regeti" came...

I just got the message, "The Battle At Regeti is over!" like I missed it or something. I went there, mopped up the pirates, and after I found no pirates any more, I took off to do other things. Seems like an OXP problem. Or am I missing something?

Do Galactic Navy missions ever "complete"?

I know Galactic Navy missions can expire, since I've received the message that the "battle was over", but do they ever really complete like other missions do (RandomHits, LocalHero, etc. all have solid conclusions to them)? For Thargoid battles, I just keep fighting until there aren't any ...

Wouldn't it be best, though, to let a value from the player entitty (from the player file) ovreride the default deadzone in case he has a crappier joystick than mine? The issue has little or nothing to do with the quality of the joystick. You could plug the same stick into a Linux box or a Mac, and...
