It was Spot, poor thing. Data is going to be so upset. (If his emotion chip is enabled, that is.)

Re: Little details...
Would that be core assassins? As an interstellar courier, I've dealt with hundreds of them, but never had one do that to me. I associate that behaviour with jerks in Ferdies. If you're talking about the Assassins Guild, then I wouldn't know. Just the core assassins, I think. I checked which OXPs I ...

Re: Little details...
Thank you! The Constrictor has now been put to bed but I'd quite forgotten how damn fast that escape capsule is travelling and it suffered a tragic accident. Ah well, the boost to the kill count is what matters. First time I've got this far for a release or two and I'm getting the reflexes for furba...

Little details...
Heading planetwards and I notice an unusual-looking moon near the planet - it's a dull red colour for some reason. So I carry on my way and after a few moments the penny drops... it's in eclipse. Well done, once again, the unpaid army who code all this stuff up. 8) (After a long layoff I picked up a...

Re: Ship Shape
With my enthusiastic approval! Thank you.I'm hoping to transmogrify the first chunk of your Ships That Pass In The Night into a Ship's Library Book. This week's new project.

Re: Ship Shape
A swarthy-skinned loner space captain who gave his name only as “Nescio Nomen” had this to say: For every purpose there is a ship, and for every ship there is a purpose. If you wanted speed and firepower, you should have bought an Asp; if you wanted to haul cargo, then a Python or a Boa or even an A...

Thank you! There are also the "Macraes" series which you can find on Amazon for pin money - the first book isn't much changed from what was serialised on here, the second one was begun here but finished offline, the third and fourth are available only offline. Links should be in my signatu...

Thank you
Alternatives to Witch-drive are explored in my fourth Marilee novel One Jump Ahead, if you fancy a little light coronavirus reading. Also you get to learn the Russian word for "camel".

Re: Oooops ... how far can I go?
As to "handwavium logic" mentioned above, Oolite ships are a lot slower than real spacecraft, though they start to catch up at Torus speed, and even our quickest probes take thousands of years to reach another solar system. One light year is ten trillion kilometres. Or, if the Earth was a ...

Re: Why was the difficulty of pirates set so high?
Another thing I find highly frustrating: You need to make money to build up your ship, but literally all of the contracts that would help you do that are off limits to you (at least without OXPs which is basically cheating, and if you're going to do that, you might as well just edit the save file a...

Re: Why was the difficulty of pirates set so high?
Something amusing from yesterday's session (because this discussion has got me playing again...). I'd just jumped into a system and a pack of "Clean" ships hanging around the Witchpoint all turned red while one of them made a threatening remark. I lit one up, happy to see there were Vipers...

Re: Why was the difficulty of pirates set so high?
Do you have Scanner Targeting Enhancement installed? That's a core piece of equipment and should help with not losing your target when things get hot. Not sure about your fighting style, but there is a video here , where I go against 12 pirates in an iron ass. Custom shields OXP is in use in the vi...

Okay, I'll toss something into the ring in that case. People who want to know how Claymore Mine finished can follow the link in my sig. Only valid for five days though, that's all KDP will let me do. (starts Sunday 22nd) (I mean, the full text of Sidewinder Precision Pro is on this very website, not...

Re: Why was the difficulty of pirates set so high?
The Isinor-Ensoreus route would be a relatively mild milk run, allowing players the chance to build up their ship and get a bit of experience under their belts. It was a peach of a route in Elite but you won't have much fuel left for your injectors (if you have any). Yes, but - with minimal piracy ...
