Re: 1pm 7th July 2024 - Oolite Anniversary Party (London)

I'm really sorry I couldn't make it, but that London is just a logistical nightmare to get to these days. I was surprised. Maybe it being a Sunday wasn't optimal I suppose. If we do this again would somewhere more central be possible? Oxford would be cool since there are at least 2 solid ooliteers i...

Re: 1pm 7th July 2024 - Oolite Anniversary Party (London)

Thanks for the offer, Cholmondely, but I haven't gone ahead with the alternate care plans for Mrs Selezen so it's all moot.

phkb thanks, I'll drop in at 1 :)

Re: 1pm 7th July 2024 - Oolite Anniversary Party (London)

I'm really sorry to say this, guys, but I won't be able to make it in person. It's going to be a 3+ hour trip there and same back again and for an uncertain amount of time actually being with you all I just can't work out any sensible logistics around this. I'd need to be up and travelling from 6am ...

Re: Station sizes on the wiki vs the dat files

See, this is the sort of discussion I loooove. :) And again many thanks to the lovely Cholmondley for including me in his thinking :) The Coriolis is lorewise the only station that was described as being a kilometer in diameter as far as I know... The others (Dodo being the only canonical one mentio...

I would love to come, but am in the midst of moving house, so may not be able to attend in person.
Surely you'd be able to park the house outside the pub for a few hours?
I laughed far too hard at that. I may have done myself a mischief. :D

Re: Limit Theory

Jeez that sounds tough, i think i remember you guesting on one of Drew's Twitch streams and talking about how much of a nightmare it was dealing with Frontier, It's really great to see you back on the boards here :) Frontier were...difficult, but in all honestly they weren't the biggest [CENSORED] ...

Re: Limit Theory

I'm wondering why he tried to do it all by himself. Because he had a personality disorder that made him imagine anyone he allowed to become involved would try to rip him off. That was obvious from early on. I can relate to him quite a lot actually. He and I had reasonably similar journeys with our ...

Re: 1pm 7th July 2024 - Oolite Anniversary Party (London)

Thanks for that, but the logistics I'm talking about is making sure I can arrange an alternative carer for my wife for the day whilst I'm away :) I can navigate around that London (I love me some GPS) I just don't like it :D Daddyhoggy is insteresting in finding out more and popping back into the fo...

Re: 1pm 7th July 2024 - Oolite Anniversary Party (London)

Interesting... Great idea and well done for organising something so cool.

I've reached out to drew and daddyhoggy to see if they're interested.

For myself that London is a logistical problem, but if I can work that out I'll do my best to be there.

Re: A question of lore

Classic Elite lore seems to say one thing, traditional Oolite lore seems to say another... This is a key attraction to me. Elite and oolite SHOULD have different lore. I always see oolite as a spin off parallel universe, diverging sometime around 3100. Key difference up front is the influx of garag...

Re: A question of lore

I think you may have quoted the wrong thing to link to your reply. I still maintain that I haven't written anything about human colonials not being earth humans...but I am happy to be corrected. Yeah, I see what i wrote. There's quite a lot of stuff I did back in those days that could do with a reth...

Re: UPDATED OXPS: Lave 1.70 & transports 2.45(new)

Yeah, that's a big plot hole right there. No answer to that one, sorry. If I was to make something up on the hoof, I'd say potentially there could be a clandestine link to the planetary economy. Unmanned drones could be doing naughty things in remote places to ferry goods to the station? Alternative...

Re: Lave OXP

The Galactic Co-Operative means very little to the serfs tilling the fields of a Poor Agricultural Feudal planet, or the mind-numbed drones of an Industrial Dictatorship, or the Corporate wage-slaves. We, the pilots, are the lucky ones. We're out, and free: and, shameful to admit, we don't really c...

Re: A question of lore

The two well-developed versions of the lore - Selezen's & Cim's - both imply that the inhabitants of the Eight came from elsewhere. Neither seem to discuss the GS's - but Selezen's views would have been historically tinged by his wish to incorporate Frontier From what I recall of Selezen's acco...
