Welcome here, please change your password!
Hi folks, this board has been rebuilt from some old backups through the work of Andray. @timer and @hiran are going to be your board admins going forward. As with any migration I urge you to reset your password for this board, use a password manager for a strong password suggestion, and most importa...

Great IP Un-ban
Because of the recent issues, I've had to implement a quick fix.
I've unbanned all IP addresses for the moment, I imagine disembodied will be quick in banning IP's that spam over the next few weeks but in the meantime, you should have access restored and watch out for the spambots!

Re: Unresolved Issues with the Mac version of Oolite
Thanks cholmondley. This looks to me like it could be an issue between Oolite's code and the implementation of the MacOS OpenAL library it's using. (I'm spitballing because it's been so very, very long since I had anything to do with the code. But I recall using OpenAL at that time, mostly successfu...

Re: Documentation Included with First Versions of Oolite
Looking back through my old file archive, I have the sources for versions 1.0b to 1.30, the earliest version (1.0b) had a simple readme.rtfd file with the key controls and a short development history.
I'll put the 1.0b source up here: http://www.aegidian.org/oolite_beta_1.0_src.zip

Re: Bulk Hauler
That's the source, by the way, there's an oxpf folder in there that should convert to an old style OXP if you remove the trailing 'f'.

Re: Instant replay
I still follow the boards occasionally(!) Yep, there is(was) a 0.1 second record of ship position kept for 256 iterations so that the vapour trails from the engines can be drawn out. In theory - if that code still exists - it could be used to provide that instant replay. It's buried fairly deep in t...

phpBB update to 3.3.3
This might fix a few things, I hope.
it's a bit of a rickety old ship, commanders.

phpBB - continue?
It's beginning to be a bit of a pain administering this board's installation.
I'm very tempted to archive it and take it down.
Please, let me know here if this is still a valued resource for you.
(ah - it's working a little better now, as you were...)
Cheers, -- Giles.

Server Downtime
To quote the ISP, the server here may be down for a few hours while some migration takes place: "The migration will take place overnight on September 27th, starting at 21:00 and will run until 08:00 the following day, September 28th." That gives you a 3 hour heads-up, see you in the morning!

Re: Social Media
I'd be happy to see an Oolite FB page, although I don't have time to manage one myself. If you create one, I'd appreciate having admin access, as I would probably have to deal with inevitable queries about the page at some point, and would like to be able to deal with that effectively. As with almos...

Re: Weirdness with 'quotes' in BB posts
This is not an easy fix unfortunately. I had been relying on the ISP's automatic update system for the boarad, but it seems to have failed to update the database. I'll have to see what can be done.

Re: Get Giles on his bike!
It's made a huge difference to my life.
I'd finish putting together my write-up but we're dealing with some family crises at the moment. Bear with.
