Re: Jameson Faces [WIP]

This OXP seems to have stopped working for me after moving from Windows to Linux v1.80... all I see is the standard BGS screens. Is this something to do with the default OXP load order differing between Windows and Linux?

Re: BGS and new backgrounds

My question is: In order to get my images to take precedence I had to make sure the name of my OXP folder comes after the BGS folder. I think if I keep my OXP in my addons folder, and BGS stays in the managed addons folder, this will always be the case. But, if I were to ever release my OXP as a ma...

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

Responding to an item from the "Quote of the Week" thread regarding E:D... While starting to look at some of the ‘since E:D has been released’ feedback about the game, I came across this pearl of wisdom commenting on E:D’s lack of depth. “I just want space to feel less empty” Not that I ha...

Re: [wip] OCPC - Player ship customizing

Hej Smivs, hej Ranthe, yeah I tried to post a quick and dirty guide (based on Captain Solo's instruction and my experiences from the noshaders project) in the skinner's den, but you need some experience with e.g. GIMP and RGBAs , so I thought I come up with this pet project, to make customising eas...

Re: [wip] OCPC - Player ship customizing

Looks interesting!

I might use this method to do a reskin for my Anaconda - where can I find the base diffuse texture to play with? I had a look in the code game Texture folder, but can only see the 'strict/classic' ones and not the standard Griff v1.80 textures.

Re: what have you added to your Ooniverse?

My Ooniverse currently have the following OXP additions: Ships * Pitviper * Serpent Class Cruiser * Taniwha, OXP ship name corrected to the "proper" Maori spelling * Medical Anaconda :-) * Far Arms ships (Tanker, Scow, Dart, Corsair, Cruiser, Sunracer), OXP modded to add more trash-talking...

Re: Oolite Darwin Awards

Today my alternate Commander, "Slippy" Jim Inskipp, learned an important lesson: Serpent-class cruisers are.... shall we say, "not physically compatible" with Astro Mine docking facilities, no matter how well-aligned the approach.

Re: Quote of the week!

Although there's always the risk that, if Oolite came to be seen as an alternative, as opposed to a homage to the original (and to some extents an advert for E:D), then FD might be tempted to bring the hammer down on it. Time for re-branding. Oolite should become Oolite: Harmless. Oolite: Mostly Ha...

Re: [Solved] Can't start Oolite v1.80 on Mint 17 Cinnamon

Wait... so you mean when I once tried the "OpenBox" desktop option for Mint from a "Linux Format" coverdisk  Why on earth would you install it from a LF coverdisk? This was before I took the plunge for an actual install - the coverdisk was a live DVD distro with Mint 16 a...

Re: [Solved] Can't start Oolite v1.80 on Mint 17 Cinnamon

Or, if you want to use something even more minimal, install OpenBox and use it. No taskbar, no desktop icons, no desktop background , no battery monitor. I think I'll try - as a secondary Window environment just for Oolite - OpenBox. What though are the chances of it hosing my system? It won't.. th...

Re: [Solved] Can't start Oolite v1.80 on Mint 17 Cinnamon

Thanks! Recently - fairly, anyway - I tried out Linux, on my (old) laptop, in the form of Mint. And, more recently yet, and just out of curiosity, I tried installing Oolite on it. I say 'out of curiosity' because I thought my laptop wouldn't run Oolite very well. But it worked (once, er, I'd worked...

[SOLVED] Re: Can't start Oolite v1.80 on Mint 17 Cinnamon

Managed to get things going again, and traced the problem to the .GNUstepDefaults file in the GNUstep "Defaults" folder getting updated with incorrect screen resolutions (probably as the result of a crash experienced when experimenting with screen resolutions). Deleting the .GNUstepDefault...
