Re: What's your combat rating?

I discovered that in ArcElite the number of police Vipers you need to kill, starting from a completely clean profile, to reach the vaunted status of fugitive, is nine. On the first kill your status becomes "offender" and stays there until the eighth. When you bag your ninth, it changes to ...

The real questions are: a) are they all due to the same woman, b) is each hair due to a seperate woman, and c) are you hairy or almost bald?

Re: What's your combat rating?

Yep. You can yell "I'm Elite, I'm Elite!" as much as you want but at the end of the day, the only person who cares that you're Elite is you, and the only person who knows whether or not you earned it or cheated is also you - so it's really a question of how much you respect yourself and ho...

It just takes some time... and good combat skills.
Perseverence over Elite-style timescales is generally not a requirement for today's relatively short and progress-intensive games.

Re: What's your combat rating?

On a slightly related note, I have assembled a collection of hacks and cheat modules for my beloved ArcElite (available here ) and from time to time people ask me, regarding this game or some other where I mention cheats - why I bother, and doesn't it defeat the purpose, etc. Here's my logic: the ga...

Always worth a visit as they have gold, gems, platinum, radioactives and minerals at knock-down prices, and pay well for booze, luxuries etc. Sounds like miniature space stations. Back in ArcElite days they were simply the same as standard asteroids, but in a garish pink/yellow/blue colour scheme (...

Go back far enough, and they launch Sidewinders. Are there Rock Hermits in Oolite?

The Zartid mission [...] The GalFam mission and the Groigan disease <pimp> Please note that I implemented elements of these ArcElite missions into my widely-praised ArcElite fanfic "Vendetta" ( link ) some years back. Give it a read, you might actually enjoy it! </pimp> My little s...

At some point I might have a bash at putting the ArcElite missions into an oxp (the missions were different!), if I get enough scripting under my belt, and can find enough data to get the original text! Should be able to find it lurking on the internet somewhere... I can help you there. I'm your ma...

Aha, found a cached copy. There I am, listed under "Scotland". Ah, the memories - haven't seen some of those names around for a long, long, looooooooooong time (although a few of them are still lurking on #afe):

Oh man, this stuff rocks. Any chance you could make either/both of: a) a classic Elite logo (you know, like the original 1980s competition pins ) and/or b) a larger Cobra Mk III that would be easier to paint? I suggest that particular ship because it's the only user-pilotable vessel in my dearly bel...

Har har, nice to see some of the old faces. I kinda miss the heyday of the EBBS sometimes. As you can see, I've actually been a member here for over three and a half years; there goes my "no posts" streak. Ah well. Somebody else recently mentioned this Shapeways thing - I'll have to look i...

Right, here's the rest of what I wanted to post, with the links obfuscated... The table above is from the #AFE FAQ: http://www.filecore.net/arcelite/files/afefaq.htm I'm Elite on ArcElite, and I was listed in the Order of Elite (as Commander Break) on hooplah.com which seems to be long-dead now, but...
