Right, here's the rest of what I wanted to post, with the links obfuscated...

The table above is from the #AFE FAQ: http://www.filecore.net/arcelite/files/afefaq.htm

I'm Elite on ArcElite, and I was listed in the Order of Elite (as Commander Break) on hooplah.com which seems to be long-dead now, but to be fair I can't say I've gotten very far on most other Elites (Oolite included) - I've played BBC Elite, Electron Elite, ArcElite, FE2, FFE, TNK (PC and PPC versions), Darkness Falls and Oolite natively, and several others emulated (including Spectrum Elite via an emulator running on my Psion Revo!).

I also wrote and ostensibly maintain most of the ArcElite-related articles on http://wiki.alioth.net/ and I have a bunch of stuff that may be of interest to the curious, which can be found here: http://www.filecore.net/arcelite/files/downloads/

Sorry for digging up such an old thread, going through a burst of old RISC OS/Elite nostalgia. Found this while reading up on the old Elite pins (http://wouter.bbcmicro.net/pictures/software/), as I've been drooling over them since the 1990s and right now I'm actually seriously considering getting a silversmith acquaintence of mine to make one for me.

Edit: made my links into links now that I'm no longer a potential spambot!

Break, my old nemesis! We meet again!

Metal pins would be lovely.

Dunno if anyone's thought about an Elite logo as a project to make yet, but Giles has had Oolite logos and Elite ships made on Shapeways - you can pick the material that the stuff gets made from too, so it should be within the realms of possibility to have your dream!!

Here's the thread: https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?t=8751

And welcome to the friendliest board this side of Reidquat! Not every day we welcome such a distinguished visitor.

Har har, nice to see some of the old faces. I kinda miss the heyday of the EBBS sometimes. As you can see, I've actually been a member here for over three and a half years; there goes my "no posts" streak. Ah well. Somebody else recently mentioned this Shapeways thing - I'll have to look into it. Maybe we could save money if they do discounts on bulk orders!

In the meantime, does anyone have spare parts for a Fer-de-lance? Mine is getting rusty.

I went back to the 1st page of the thread - some long lost names back there...

(I notice Blunderbuss Carrot II is --Banned-- - I've never seen that against anybody else...)

I'm still mostly harmless in Oolite (deliberately) - I did my indiscriminate killing back in the C64 and Amiga days - reaching Elite in both versions.

It's the only case on these generally very friendly boards.

Wow - it must have been bad! That's not bad though - 6 years, thousands of members and one banned... Pretty damn fine in fact.

rank!

Post by onno256 »

I don't know which Elite version it was, since it was a highly illegal PC-version,
but I made Archangel and Elite after destroying the Thargoid base..

It was back in '91...

In Oolite my oldest commander is rated Deadly.

Currently playing a new savegame to try some other ships.

Greetz,
Onno.

Elite Plus gave you the title ‘Archangel’, and the reward of an ‘anti-ecm’ device, for destroying a Thargoid-infested station.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Aha, found a cached copy. There I am, listed under "Scotland". Ah, the memories - haven't seen some of those names around for a long, long, looooooooooong time (although a few of them are still lurking on #afe):

Currently Dangerous atm with 1371 kills since install mid november.

I did manage Deadly on the original Elite on my old 8Bit cpu years ago then my keyboard broke ending my Elite career prematurely until I found Oolite.....
