Hmm Side views are probably of limited use, tactically, unless your target is remaining relatively still or moving along one of your axes. So, flying alongside a behemoth, it's quite easy to scratch the side of its paintwork; but for ships moving freely, your ship will have to move bizarrely to keep...

In 1.64, I've noticed an issue with the rotating display of each ship in the shipyard.

The sides of each ship flicker, as if the light source were a knackered fluorescent tube. This is in the side that is rotating out of darkness and into light., i.e. in the twighlight area.

Anyone else...?

I've taken one out.

I loosed all my hardened missles at it first, mind.

I had to do my strategy of firing until my front lasers overheat, then running away and firing from the rear. And back again.

Wasn't counting, though. Too much fun!

I love the Q-bomb - It's visually stunning, very lethal, and often surprising in its domino toppling effect.

E-bombs are usually last resorts, when I'm angry, or as a lesson to others....!

Thermal would be a lot of work. Light-amplification would probably be easier… but would be better done after we’ve got glare effects. ;-) Yes, obviously thermal imaging would be a bit radical. The idea was more along the lines of 'false colour', like <real world> images of deep space. System too da...

lighting is pervertex.
Is that some new space-age material with a wipe-clean finish...?

On a more serious note, you're going to need a pretty strong torch bulb to illuminate space!

Should I mention the IR goggles again....?

The SuperCobra OXP creates 3 ships, all fugitives, whenever you arrive somewhere.
So if you do a witchspace malfunction, they will be there too.

You can even get the Behemoth there sometimes, which is really cool.

Why do you call Plus nonsense? It is original Elite with VGA support and almost full mission set.
Sorry, no harm intended. Just being rashly dismissive!
Better than any except Acorn and maybe "Novosibirsk" versions.
.... I'll take your word for it.

I have Original BBC Elite on an Emulator on my Mac. I've not played any of the Elite+, Frontier nonsense. Giles' implementation may have slight differences from the original, and there may be quantative quibbles about rates of change of certain factors, but it still represents a fantastic game with ...

It was created to avoid dissent from those who thought some new features detracted from the "original" Elite. (Or indeed that features in the original game should not be implemented in Oolite.) I think most OXPs don't work in it - not sure about missions. I don't actually play it myself, b...

8000 plus, and have since started from sratch again!

I did go a bit "kill crazy" from 5,000 +, often using energy bombs whenever the radar was packed with blips.

Better speed in 1.63 and odd exhaust bug

Just a note to say that 1.63 seems smoother, and with a better object/fps ratio than before on my G3 iBook. (Panther). Fewer hiccups, too. I'm also enjoying seeing the exhaust plumes out the rear view, although I did manage to get the plumes stuck on my front view once. Unable to recreate this, thou...

There has previously been talk of "Predator"-style IR/UV shift goggles (available at high-tech worlds).

If the system has low ambient light, this would really come in handy!
