Re: Wishes, pleas, suggestions and demands!
Different criminal system. You should not be able to commit outright evil acts of piracy, then make a few skim jumps and have everything forgotten and forgiven. Auto Trader equipment. You just tell it in which system you plan to dock at a station next time and it loads your cargo up accordingly. Ge...

Re: Loadout by Category
I’ve now added this to the expansion manager in two versions, one with a minimum Oolite version of 1.91, and one with a maximum Oolite version of 1.90, so, fingers crossed, you should only be able to install one version of it. Trying to think how to phrase this... bear with me... The ability to do ...

Re: Can I become a licensed Arms Dealer? (nope)
Have a look at the UNDOCUMENTED LAUNCH OXZ by Wildeblood which is designed to handle such situations . Be forewarned that there is not a 100% guarantee that you will always get away with it. Attempted Bribery of Station Officials remains an illegal act. This OXZ just gives a pilot an opportunity th...

Re: WOOT-Attack!
Just musing about this one. Would being targeted really be ascertainable by another ship? And if it were, surely somebody on Ceesxe or wherever would have come up with an equipment add-on preventing such ascertainment? WOOT-Woffler: A snip at 10,000₢, available at TL13 It's why submarines have gian...

Re: Am annoyed about fixed lasers
Cholly, I think you might have posted this bit of thread necromancy in the wrong place? What's the connection to the fixed/swivelling lasers question? It's this new BB business of hiding the quotes. The connection is the bit from Disembodied lurking at the very bottom of the quotation, his recent d...

Re: Does anyone else ram other ships?
I suppose a javascript could compare PS.energy with PS.target.energy and issue an appropriate warning. But is that really all that is involved? So all that guff on the PitViper wiki page about sharpness and hardened hull is complete and utter baloney? Do we know whether sharpness or a hardened hull...

Aaaah! But are they really computers? https://wiki.alioth.net/img_auth.php/f/f9/Computers_YAH_B_16.png I still have an original genuine A1000 out in my shed, in its original box. (At least, I assume it's still there.) I've only ever paid for software twice in my life. The first time was for the Ami...

Re: Oolite Flavours
So why don't we agree to not correct each other's spelling, going forward? You want to take away my only remaining source of joy in this miserable world? You can redraft all the details of all 256 systems, and present chart 1 as chart 9 the second time around. The only new thing we'd need for that ...

Re: Oolite Flavours
You can do all that now with javascript There are limits to what can be achieved with JS. You could create a space (reachable by misjumping between two planets), turn off the Thargoids, add a planet or two, some stations, even get some traffic moving around. But you can't add a sun via JS. You can ...

(BTW, artefact is spelt with an E. Artificial is derived from artifice, not artefact.) Unless you read a lot of American fiction growing up, in which they all tended to spell it "artifact", and thus so do I. Sometimes. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/artifact Yuck. Disabuse yourself of tha...

Re: Oolite Flavours
The eight charts (yawn, "galaxies")... should have always been near the top of the list of things to get rid of . I presume that changing the Vanilla Game Code to allow more than Classic Elite's 256 systems per galaxy would solve this. If we could have thousands/millions per galaxy than t...

Re: Oolite Flavours
I would challenge the view that the 8 charts are a kludge. Yes, definitely an artifact of the 8-bit origins and galaxy seeds and so forth, but not a kludge. Bell & Braben could have left the game with just a single chart of 256 systems, which would have been perfectly fine. However, because of ...

Re: Does anyone else ram other ships?
* Rammee: Does one's victim have to be smaller and more weedy? Yes, I used to try this, with often disastrous results. You need to learn which are the lightweight ships that can safely be rammed. I suppose a javascript could compare PS.energy with PS.target.energy and issue an appropriate warning.
