Video of Saturn fly-by

Post by Smivs »

Nice 'video' of Cassini fly-by of Saturn on APOD today - not CGI but actual images compiled into a flyby.

Very nice, but that video technology takes an inordinate amount of CPU, so unfortunately I only saw it at a frame or two per seconds.

Why the bleep do modern web-embedded videos take so much CPU? Ok, so even my 'new' laptop isn't the most modern anymore, but my ancient laptop used to be able to play full-screen embedded videos fine a couple of years ago and it's significantly slower than the new one.
