Distances on the short range...
Distances on the short range chart drive me crackers, sometimes. From Atistiso to Lezaer (G3) it’s 2 lights, from Atistiso to Esmaonbe it’s 2.4 lights, but Lezaer and Esmaonbe are a zero-distance double. I tell myself it’s because of the vagaries of the wormhole, and I do like the occasional quirk… but it does puzzle me.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Laenin to Xexedi -- try doing a couple misjumps going both ways on that if you want to see real insanity on distances.

Speaking of the short range, I noticed two quirks which have been there forever:
1. the planet sometimes look like it's outside of the fuel range (the green circle) but is 6.8 ly away
2. the estimated time is not displayed if I do not have enough fuel

1. is due to rounding errors present in the original Elite and kept as-is in Oolite so that the representation of the Universe and all possible routes remain unchanged.Zireael wrote:Speaking of the short range, I noticed two quirks which have been there forever:

2. is on purpose. You only see the estimated travel time if you can actually reach the target.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Why is 2. on purpose? If I'm doing a contract (and I have Advanced Navigational Array), why rob me of the ability to see the time the jump would take?

Because you can't jump there anyway?Zireael wrote:Why is 2. on purpose? If I'm doing a contract (and I have Advanced Navigational Array), why rob me of the ability to see the time the jump would take?
Also, this is about the Short Range Chart. The ANA works on the Long Range.

I really hate it when I see two planets that are so close that they look like they are joined together. I just tell myself it's a binary star system or something like that...

Or a 2D representation of a 3D slice of the Ooniverse, a kind of stellar equivalent of the London Underground map?uua90 wrote:One of my favorite milk runs.Switeck wrote:Laenin to Xexedi -- try doing a couple misjumps going both ways on that if you want to see real insanity on distances.
