What's up with being Hacked?

Post by XB7 »

 Nearly all my clients have been hacked within the last six months. It's getting out of hand. There's too many people out of work with too much time on their hands.

FYI, the hack occurred just not too long before I posted this. Not sure of the time stamp helps.

I was advised it was prolly an exim+debian exploit. Nasty little vulnerability that caught a lot of folks out.

How dare they attack the Oolite boards - What did anyone here do to deserve that?
I wish some bounty hunters would blast these hacker pirates to component atomic material.

Anyway,

Thank you Master and commander for restoring our board. This must have been a nasty start of 2011. And indeed: whats the point with attacking the Oolite forum.

It is a mistake to assume they cared (or knew) what they were attacking.

it was probably a Thargoid incursion, testing our defenses. given we failed miserably, i expect they're massing for a full-on assault!

Well, if anyone is planning on mounting a counterattack, they came from www.indi shell.in.
Or so they claimed, anyway.
(Unless, of course, they were set up to take the fall for someone else. Not that it's likely that a group of hackers would give credit to anyone but themselves.)

Woo! Nice to see the forums back up again! Thank you Giles for fixing it all for us!
Edit: the new forum looks very posh, is the report this post button is going to make life easier for the spam assassins? i don't know how it all works, we can't have them lazing around though can we? maybe we should make them run up and down the clocktower steps a few times every morning in case they get out of shape *cue all the spam assassins reporting this post*

I have it on good authority that they are...

Nice job with the forum Giles! Feels like a Cobra Mk4 now!

Cheers,

I know i'm newish here, but good job on the recovery. I 'd go mad if my forum got hit as well, known a few myself that have gone down last year.

Ha... 'lazing around' indeed!

Hey,

thanx for all the hard work, the new bulletin board is looking great!

The board is a nice addition to the game, I spend quit some time hanging out on it....

Keep it up, and lets prepare for the counterattack, maybe we can get on their six!
