killed by non-hostile ship

Post by Illuminaughty »

A fellow asteroid miner ripped my ship to shreds the other day.

Infuriatingly I couldn't return fire without degrading my legal status.

Is there an OXP that fixes this? If I accidentally fire on a clean ship, I am automatically an offender thereafter. I want them to be offenders since they fired on me first.

In fact, the other day I received a distress call from an offender that I could not respond to because the attacking ship had a clean status. If I was bounty hunting and a clean ship got in my way, I would have to break off or risk accidentally hitting the clean ship and becoming an offender myself.

Ideally the ships would be smart enough to know when they are accidentally hitting me, or even smart enough to realize they would hit me so they would break off or go around to the other side of the asteroid, but the most immediate solution would be to just make it so their legal status goes to offender for firing on me, even if it is an accident.

These situations can be really annoying but there is not much that can be done. It's worth mentioning, though, that if you attack a 'Clean' ship you don't automatically become an offender, only if this is witnessed by a Police vessel.

I know a way to respond to that distress call. 8)

Ramming doesn't seem to be considered a hostile act.
