So far, Oolite has just been a game for trading commodities, and ships it would be awsome if there was some way to be able to trade Realestate . I.E. Planets or Planet side property or an orbiting spacestation. nothing fancy but somthing that has special titles or amenities kinda like owning a ship with the exception that the property is stationary in the system you purchased it in, not only that, but you should be able to store personal items there, that would also take care of the issue some one had in an earlier post about owning more than one ship at a time, they could taxi from their property to a nearby system for a certain price of course and buy another ship if they had the credits to do so.
I would create the oxp myself if i had the programming experience but for now i only have the ideas, and this one seems possible and reasonable. I think it adds to the player immersion of Oolite in that it would allow empire building missions.
this would be the next greatest thing to Oolite since the creation of planetfall oxp

Hi, Boshi, and first of all welcome to the boards, and of course to this great game!
You should search for Oolite Extended (or OE in short), which is a project that deals more or less exactly with what you have in mind. However, this project leaves the boundaries of Oolite. It is envisioned as a branch that maybe some day will evolve into a completely different game. The reason for this branching is that the things OE wants to achieve (things like you have drawn out) are not possible as an OXP with the code of Oolite.
If you feel like you could help re-coding parts of the program in order to accommodate the vision, you will certainly be most welcome in the OE project. (It seems the project has stalled recently; probably it could use some fresh thinking and help.)

Thank you, for the reply.
I might just do that, however, i am just a hobbist programmer, i do, however, have the Oolite source code and have gotten lost in its coding, i just completed a beginning C++ course at my local 2yr college so my programming experience is extremely limitied, probably not enough to join the team. I have been a fan of Elite since its conception in the 80's, and recently with in the last five years stumbled accross Oolite. im supprised it did not boom like some of the other electronic goodies that came out of the 70's and 80's, but i guess we can blame that on capitalism.
