There's some dedicated bounty hunters out there!

Post by Mauiby de Fug »

I just launched from the main station, and failed to pay attention to what was in front of me. I managed to ram through and destroy a poor GalCop Viper who was casually minding his own business flying towards the nav beacon. I'd already engaged my hyperdrive, (which was why I wasn't paying attention) and the impact happened just before I jumped.

I therefore mis-jumped.

Of course, the annihilation of a Viper gave me a Fugitive tag, and I was, as is usually the case when I'm, a fugitive, greeted by some bounty hunters. But, as I'd mis-jumped, we were in the middle of nowhere surrounded by Thargoids!

Which begs the question - how did the bounty hunters know where to find me, and how did they get there!?

Simple, and potentially inaccurate, answer: They followed you through your own wormhole.
"Actually this is a common misconception... I do *not* in fact have a lot of time on my hands at all! I just have a very very very very bad sense of priorities."

If that was the case, surely they'd have to overtake me inside the wormhole, in order to get there ahead of me to ambush me?

They are just extremely good in finding their prey.

(Out-of-game answer: I think it's the result of an oversight on my part in Anarchies.oxp. The OXP randomly creates bounty hunters in front of the main station on launch, and after exiting witchspace, as long as you're fugitive. Obviously I forgot to exclude misjumps from the second bit (a quite common mistake among OXPers). Noted for next OXP version.)
