Can't run Oolite

Downloaded the game fine and have had no problems up until last week when I double-clicked the icon, and the following message came up;

"Ad-Watch Live has blocked the process oolite.exe(2312) from starting on your system. The process has been identified as VirTool.Win32.Obfusticator.hg!b1 (v) "

I had Adaware running on the PC before I downloaded Oolite and haven't changed any settings since said download, and I use Kaspersky antivirus software.

Help please!

Typically programs that "protect" the user by blocking suspicious programs offer functionality to white list false positives. Look for something along these lines.

I can guarantee that all the Oolite for Windows versions found on Berlios are virus free. Before each release, the game installer, as well as the installation image (i.e. the game tree installed on a user's hard disk), are thoroughly checked for malware using professional up-to-date virus scanning software, with latest at time of release virus definition files. Where did you download Oolite from? I have seen it appearing on various "free software here" sites, but only the copies downloaded from Berlios (or from www.oolite.org, which poiints to Berlios for downloads) are guaranteed to be clear.

I would recommend uninstalling Oolite, running a full system scan after booting from a Windows start up CD or other means of booting clean and, once you are sure that all is in order, re-install Oolite.

Probably a false positive triggered by an update to your adware software.

Upload "oolite.exe" to VirusTotal.com and see what it comes back with it. If only a small percentage of scanners are reporting the executable as being infected then it's probably a false positive. Otherwise your system has become infected by another means, in which case you'd better update your virus scanner and perform a full scan.

In addition, I'd recommend MalwareBytes Anti-Malware for a second opinion and competent scanning of your computer.
