Terraforming Ascension Island

Post by Cody »

An interesting article.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I've read it, and I think the author got just a little bit overexcited.

"Terraforming" sounds like a huge thing. What Darwin & Co actually did was well-known to their contemporaries under the name of "gardening".
There were all kinds of plants that don't belong together in nature, growing side by side.
Like in your average botanical garden, which is not very surprisingly where they got the specimen from, before they were planted on Ascension.

Still, making the island durably habitable is no small feat. So I can understand the excitement. :)
