guiChange has stopped somewhere since 1.71, in regard to the save screen...
guiChange do not trigger when entering that, or pause mode.

While in pause mode no js code -or legacy script for that matter- is supposed to do anything, and when resuming from pause mode you're back to whatever screen you were when you pressed 'p'. That's very much working as designed, I believe.
As for save game screens not triggering js events, I'm pretty sure that's intentional too.
On macs the save & load screens are never shown if in windowed mode (the mac's standard save/load window is used instead), so there's no way to guarantee that any event would be triggered when a player selects the 'save game' option...

In regard to save screen GuiChange Trigger
I know I used to on 1.71 t as I used it to detect certain changes in the equipment of the player.., back then we did not have the current equipment model..
however, I can work around it...
