To quote myself from earlier today:

It’s a bad idea to put documentation inside an OXP. Mac users will not see it, and other users are likely not to look.
Also (he says, continuing his habit of finding the negative side of everything), it’s a pity you’re using baked-in lighting effects, given that separate lighting maps have been easy to use on systems with shader support for the past two years and will work on most non-shader systems in 1.74.

The new skins look great (*)! Good work.

(*) Although, personally I'm not that keen on hull lighting (whether baked in or not) - what's the point?! (unless you have someone doing an EVA). If it's to make the models more visible in the blackness of space, just increase the brightness of the whole model.. I'm quite fond of bright-ish ships so I can appreciate them without having to crash into them.
This does not, of course, refer to lights spilling out from portholes or cabins or similar.

Lastly, (personal request) would it be possible to add an Info.plist? I'm in the process of making a (very basic and simple) OXP manager which will be able to read & extract data from an Info.plist. Will make it nice and consistent to view version numbers, OXP name, etc. As far as I can tell, this is something standard on a Mac anyway.
2010.05.03 - After some discussion we will probably use a different file for this. Striking this out in case other scripters feel the need to add metadata to their OXPs. More information as soon as we finalise the base requirements.

I am not sure if I got this right - but I think (wether baked in or not) it is this that makes the ships better visible when running Oolite without shaders.
So I do not have to approach to say 5 km distance before I can aim (and shoot) them.

pagroove, those look nice.

What happened to the bushmaster ? I liked that a lot, from your screenshot. Or is it just not an "old ship" and will go separately ?

i think the point was that ingame in makes little sense to have lights fitted externally, but that you can get the same effect by having windows or other light sources.

Alternativly a reason could be thought up such as to help detection of asteroids and cargo pods, or perhaps for docking etc.

I believe it is included. Just not on the collage.

Lestradae pointed out that the OXP is still using some elements from the OLD OLDShips.oxp so atm they are not compatible. I'll look into that for a v 1.1.

Actually, I would prefer it if we put the documents in twice, once inside the OXP and once on the "outside". That way when I install the OXP, I read the readme, but after installation I don't have all documents in a separate dir somewhere I can't remember. But I can access it in the OXP by means of the "show contents" function.

@ pagroove: The ships look great, I'm downloading now.

The OXP is now on the wiki: http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Old_Ships_2010

EDIT: Have added images of these ships to the Custom Paintjobs sections of the ship pages.

Does anyone know where the original ship descriptions can be found. As I know these ships are from Elite-A and that version has a ship encyclopedia inside.

On these pages there are descriptions but these are ship reviews from the author and probably not the originals.

Have also created a ship page for the Monitor 2. Can you confirm that all you changed from the original Monitor was the speed, pitch and roll?

I copied the ship data table from the original Monitor, however some of the stats are "Unknown"...?
