OpenGL versions

Near the top of Oolite’s log, you should find a line like:
Code: Select all
[rendering.opengl.version]: OpenGL renderer version: 2.1.0 ("2.1 ATI-1.6.10")
What is your version? (Please use the poll options carefully hidden above this post.)
A few lines after that, there should be a list of “OpenGL extensions”. Please post the list (and everything above it in the log) if it
does not contain “GL_ARB_texture_cube_map”. No need to comment if it
does contain that, because it will for most of you.

Please answer in the form of a poll option. :-)

I run Oolite on three different machines/OSes - but not all of them are OpenGL 2.0+
I've voted for the most used though, to make it simple...

I’m actually interested in the worst/lowest you really use.

Ah yes, of course, I'll fire up my 8yr old's PC (my old Media PC) with a GF4 Ti4800 Platinum VIVO card (boy was that a lot of money in its day!) and see what it says and report back! (can't remember if I've ever tried this with Shaders on because I think the TV capture bit doesn't work if I don't use Leadtek/Winfast drivers and they're stuck (for this card) at about 66.93 or something stupid!)

Code: Select all
[rendering.opengl.version]: OpenGL renderer version: 1.5.0 ("1.5.0")
Vendor: SiS
Renderer: Mirage Graphics3
Mine's one of the two voted 1.5.0 (non-shader), but you probably know that as I've pointed out on numerous occasions.
GL_ARB_texture_cube_map
IS included in my supported OpenGL extensions list (63 extensions listed).

I know how you feel!
What about
GL_ARB_texture_cube_map? Is it included in your OpenGL extensions?

What OS version are you using? My GMA950 MacBook with Snow Leopard gives me ‘1.4.0 ("1.4 APPLE-1.6.10")’, and I’m pretty sure it was 1.4 under Leopard as well – it supported simple mode shaders, and the extension required for that (GL_ARB_shading_language_100) was first defined for 1.4.

I run OS 10.5 (Leopard). I forgot to sign up for the Snow Leopard update and I haven't had a reason to buy the update yet.
When I engage simple shaders I get the infamous black ships, at least last time I tried. Will check if I have the extension you mentioned when I get home. My extension list was quite long, so it might be in there.
Edit: My GL extensions contain:
- GL_ARB_shader_objects
- GL_ARB_vertex_shader
- GL_ARB_shading_language_100
- GL_EXT_geometry_shader4
- GL_ARB_fragment_shader
Edit2: OK, just tried simple shaders again. Griffs normal mapped ships get the right shadows (jummy), but the Caduceus Alpha is black, except for the side turrets. ADCK's new Bohemoth work, jay!
I'm tempted to sort out which models work with simple shaders and delete the other OXP's. On the other hand, framerate is down quite a bit, so maybe not..
