Trunk 1.74.0.3122: Save transfer question

Post by NorthenderPNE »

Hi guys, this is probably not a bug and is not a gripe. I downloaded the latest trunk 1.74.0.3122 and after transferring my save from trunk 1.74.0.3113 there are no ships to purchase from the stations. All my equipment, money etc is there but the ships are gone, or maybe a criminal mastermind has stolen them.

Is this due to the latest fixes or just my bad luck? I'm not bothered if i have to start over as i fully realise the risks of playing the trunks, i'm just curious.

And finally i just want to thank everyone who puts their time and effort into making this game a joy to play. Being a veteran of the old days i can't thank you guys enough. Re living my youth makes me forget i'm getting older.

Love you guys......cough! :wink:

It might just be that you are at a station that didn't have any ships for sale. Try going to another system? Low tech systems eg Anarchies often don't have ships for sale.

I don't see this problem here and, from what I can see, the latest fixes were in unrelated areas of the code. Did you also transfer all your AddOns together with the saves? What does the log say if you start the game with Shift held down? You can also post the contents of your savefile and we can have a look at it (or at least try it on other installations running trunk), to see if we can reproduce it.

JazHaz's point is valid as well. Check whether this is the case or not.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm using all the same addons, they were untouched, changed nothing, just the trunk version.

I was at Ensoreus Tech 12, no ships. I flew to Ararus Tech 4 and the same thing, although understandable due to low tech, if that's the reason for no ships.

Finally on the 3rd attempt Atriso Tech 8 i got some ships. Strange that the Tech 12 didn't have any.

Anyway, thanks guys, and please forgive my ignorance, but i never expected 2 stations on the trot to have no ships. If it makes you feel better i have banged my head against the wall.

Now have a nice day chaps. :wink:

It might be due to incompatibility with the OXPs. Some of them may require updating to work with trunk/1.74.

Yeah, thanks JazHaz. I'm not using many addons but i have the most recent versions of all the oxp's i'm using. I only use addons that are compatible with 1.73+. But saying that, the oxp's aren't written with the trunk versions in mind i guess.

Thanks again mate. :wink:

Unless you're very unlucky and have OXPs that used stuff already depreciated in 1.73, then they should work in 1.74 (albeit with some complaining in the logs).

But some OXPs specifically won't work by settings in their required.plist. You'll see those as you get a message on the game start-up that the OXP is incompatible.

That's good to know, haven't had any yet. It's funny because i got all the latest oxp's i'm using from your box site. So if they don't work, i'll blame you. :wink:

Thanks mate. :D

The only one of mine you may have problems with is Drones, as I think that may still have a little bit of 1.72 code in it that I missed when I did the 1.73 update (I found this out last night).

Not got around to uploading the revised version yet. Uploaded the tweaked version this morning...

Sorry to bang on about the AddOns folder, but the important thing is that you might have to keep 2 copies of your addons depending on your specific configuration... what does Oolite's latest.log say?
Hey, free OXPs: farsun v1.05 & tty v0.5! :0)

@KaKs

If you're asking me about the log files, then here is what mine says at present. Bear in mind i have since updated to 174.0.3132. Sorry for the late reply, i've been busy with the old DIY! I haven't noticed the ships vanish since i last mentioned it. Very strange, but good! :wink:

@Thargoid

I've already updated any oxp's i'm using. If i get script errors etc i remove the oxp. For example, the Far Sun oxp i was using gave a script error so i removed it. And i visit your box page often. :wink:

The log says that all your OXP are loaded twice. That shouldn't happen. Unfortunately it doesn't give the locations, and when listing the locations it seems each OXP is only present once.

Or is this a logging error in trunk 3132?

Yeah i did wonder why it did that. I noticed it when i was copying and pasting it yesterday! Didn't think much of it at the time. :wink:

It is intended behaviour for 1.74.
The first set is preparing for a Jameson and setting up Lave system. On loading a saved game all oxp are reloaded. (Before there was just a reset)

What's the thinking behind that then?
