(yes, I am bored right now )
Anyone arrived closer than that?
If you're bored install YAH - that should make your arrival much more entertaining...
Definitely. With YAH, I have arrived about as close to the beacon as that, but with the added scare of a huge billboard then swinging around and trying to clobber the nose off my python!
Commander Monty, a Python Class Cruiser driver
Iron assed bulk haulers for the win!
Of the two trumbles which escaped today from Lave station, only 473 have been located....
With YAH installed, the smart Commander cuts his engines to near zero just prior to entering Witchspace. That makes it a lot easier to NOT eat a billboard on arrival.
Running Oolite buttery smooth & rock stable w/ tons of eyecandy oxps on:
ASUS Prime X370-A
Ryzen 5 1500X
16GB DDR4 3200MHZ
128GB NVMe M.2 SSD (Boot drive)
1TB Hybrid HDD (For software and games)
EVGA GTX-1070 SC
1080P Samsung large screen monitor
I had just re-installed ATI 9.10 and took the ship out.
First jump and… the closest I’ve ever been to a beacon… had to pull up sharp.
Within thirty seconds I was rammed by a Krait… press space Commander.
Sometimes you just can’t win.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!
Given the way billboards and vehicles tend to interact in the movies, wouldn't it be neat if we could just plow through the BB, leaving a big hole in it?
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied
