Ceesxe is the highest-tech planet in chart 1 – it's TL 15.

And then there's four TL 14 planets in chart 1: Onrira, Inera, Tianve and Xexedi.

Edit: hot tip: hold down "i" on the short-range chart and it'll display information about planetary economies, governments and tech levels.

I think you can only buy that if you flew a certain mission?

Isn't that the Naval Energy Unit? Or are they both mission-dependent?

The Military Shield Enhancement is not a mission awarded equipment, it can be bought in any sufficiently high tech planet. The Naval Energy Unit on the other hand, is awarded after successful completion of a built-in mission.

@Dry Throat

The Oolite 'Trade Contract Timekeeper' is available here: http://www.box.net/shared/bchkkloi32 . One feature is a galactic chart which flags planets with tech level above 14 (you can specify any baseline you like). Hi TL planets have a red circle around them. Hunt and you will find them. To cut down the noise, to to the Galaxy Data tab, column AM and filter on 'not equal to N/A' - then flip back to the star chart which will then just contain the relevant high TL planets. Set which galaxy you would like to look at on the 'Trade Contract Timekeeper' tab.

Also highlighted as standard on the star chart are poor agri (green diamonds) Rich industrial (blue triangles) and sub-Mulit-Government systems (black circles).

There's a pic on page 39 of this thread: https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?t=6053&start=570

Hi Disembodied,

THANKS for the "i" tip. How did I miss knowing that?

Thanks also to the others for the info on the maps.

No wonder I am struggling to get my Military Shields enhanced (TL14) - Galaxy 8 maps show no TL14 planets!!

Perhaps it is time to head on to revisit galaxy 1.

Must put large notice on windshield for my future reference - "Read the B***** Instructions. FIRST"

Hey, Hey!!!!

VERY useful notice. Already earning its' keep!

Just read the bit about TL starting from 0 - so add 1 for real world stuff.

Three jumps to Arance - problem solved.

You can get a naval energy unit before a certain mission if you find a ship that has one fitted on sale (usually at TL14-15 worlds). Trouble is that if it goes wrong you can't get it fixed or replaced, all you can do is buy an extra energy unit to replace it. Or another ship with one fitted, of course. Unless you get rich VERY fast it's probably better to wait to be awarded one officially.

Just purchased a Military Shield Enhancement at Tezaeded. Looks a nice place to do trading, also had the chance to see what my new purchase performed like. Very impressed.
