Which version are you playing? It is **HIGHLY** suggested you use 1.73.4.

As for the general issue of no textures - Update your video drivers. Is it an Nvidia- or an ATI-based card?

Either way, update the driver.

Try playing in a window instead of full screen, sometimes that works,
if not try it the other way.

Oh, and Welcome to The Friendliest Board this side of Reidiquat tm

Which may be more amusing once you actually get to play the game.

1.73.4 is just like 1.73.3, but better! One thing you can try is go to the oolite link/shortcut (either on the desktop or inside the 'start' menu, right click it, then click properties on the popup menu that appears.
That should give you a small window called 'Oolite properties'.
Click the Shortcut tab, you should see a line that says

Target: C:\Oolite\oolite.app\oolite.exe

change that so it reads

Target: C:\Oolite\oolite.app\oolite.exe -nosplash

click OK, now double click the same shortcut.

If everything went well, you should see a black oolite window for a few seconds, then Oolite itself should start, hopefully with textured & smoothly animated ship. If you still have problems, that means you need to find your video card's exact model, and install its latest drivers...

Assuming everything went well, to begin playing click on Oolite's window, then press n, then space.

Which means that you have to look for the graphic cards chip manufacturer, which most likely is ATI or nVidia. The companies which sell the cards often come branded like Asus, MSI, ... but these companies usually do not link to the latest drivers from the chips manufacturer. Thus it's really necessary to go to ATI or nVidia and get them there.

If newer drivers and nosplash option do not help, please locate the log file and post it here.

Sounds like you have the exact same problem I did with Oolite - does it look like this?

- Kaks' advice (quoted below) should hopefully work! If not, you need to update graphics drivers for your video card.

I'll add my welcome by the way! Hopefully you'll be up and running shortly!

Hi Christina

In C:\Oolite\oolite.app\Logs you will find Latest.log
Open Latest.log in Wordpad or some text editor. Do not use Notepad.
Copy and paste in your next post.

Did you get the 9.10 driver from AMD? That’s the last one. I have the 3650 also.

Hope this helps.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Did you try the modified shortcut as per Kaks instructions?

Your log is showing that Oolite isn't able to use your graphics card and is defaulting to 'software rendering' which is why you're getting the blank ship.

the -nosplash setting should fix this... (this is exactly the problem I had with my graphics setup)

Cheers,

Drew.
