When we introduced shader support, back in the mists of time (2007), it seemed sensible to default to simple shader mode. These days, however, I suspect that most people with shader-enabled GPUs would be better off in full shader mode. Therefore, we need a list of GPUs for which we should default to simple mode so that we can use full mode for everything else.

If you find that you need to use simple shader mode for performance reasons, please open your Oolite log, find the line that starts with “[rendering.opengl.version]”, and copy from there to the next log entry (which is likely to be “[shipData.load.begin]”).

Starting from Lave I get 30 FPS steady looking at about everything I want to while full shaders are enabled.

EDIT: The resolution is set to 1920x1200.

I assume you used full screen mode. In that case my computer seems to prefer a value of 59 FPS (1680x1050). In windowed mode my Jameson gives 95 - 105 FPS. (Full shader and many oxps)
All with a Jameson looking at lave and one looking at a Griffs normal mapped Coriolis station.

I'm sure Ahruman asked for the card/fps for cards that appear to be running badly with Shaders enabled but everybody seems to be posting results that blow my lowly 128MB GF6600GT out of the water... (which performs well enough c. 60fps with full shaders on staring at a Constore filling the screen)

Indeed; in this context, systems that perform well in full shader mode are completely and utterly uninteresting.

Well, I put in some OXPs (include neolite, Lave 1.70, Ringpod and Lave Academy) and launched a new Jameson from Lave and got a consistent 33 fps with full shaders.

On my aforementioned 9400M.

My little TDM (This Damn Machine) has 1G ram 6200 Nav graphics and 1.2GHz cpu. Had to buy a navy card coz ATI was so much rubbish.
Just to play Oolite.

It doesn't like full shaders, locks TDM up. But does run great on simple. Though can't run shipyards. Locks up TDM.
I chop and change my oxpers depending on which galaxy I'm in.

At which I'll take this time to thank all the great guys that wrote said oxpers. Makes Oolite the best game on this wee planet.

MacPro 2 x 2.8GHz Quadcore(Early '08 model) + 8GB RAM running OSX 10.5.8, 1680 x 1050 resolution
I get 59fps, occasional dips to 55fps when 100+ objects.
