I realise that this post may be kind'a old now but if it is still being monitored, (and the information still useful) I am running Oolite 1.75 (32bit) version on Linux Mint 10 (Julia) which is a distro of Ubuntu Linux 10.10.

I run Oolite on Easy Peasy 1.5, which is based on Ubuntu Jaunty Jalope.
Now rated Deadly flying a Military Stingray in Galsector 2 causing chaos, panic and disorder as a hitman and trader.

Hi Ad_Astra, welcome to the friendliest bulletin board this side of Reidequat! :D
Good to know that Oolite runs on Easy Peasy 1.5.
Are you running version 1.74 or 1.75 or 1.75.1?
Do you run any Oolite eXpansion Packs (OXPs)?
If so, which ones?

I'm running Oolite Trunk 1.75.2 (4509) on Ubuntu 10.10 x64 (strangely trunk is the only version I could get to run on this distro...)...

I'm running Lucid.

In general, Ubuntu packages might be good for Long Term Support editions as they are around for 3 years.

To avoid ruining Micha's poll, the Ubuntu alphabet has been split here. :)

The poll has been closed for 18 months!

But I see your point.

I'm now running Oolite 1.75.2.4547 quite happily, now in G2 with just shy of 2000 kills - I reckon I'll get to Deadly rating pretty soon from here. :)

It works pretty damn well so far, although the frame rate isn't great sometimes, probably because I've got too many tabs open in Opera at the same time. Hey, the Oolite Wiki is damn useful - I just wish it covered all 8 Galaxy Sectors for the planet listings.

OXPs? Oooh, lots of them:
*takes a big deep breath*
ACS, Armoury, BeerCooler (the number of times I've had this item damaged in a firefight rather than something far more important!), Behemoth, Bounty Scanner, display reputation, Energy Equipment, Escort Contracts, Fuel Collector, Fuel Station, Galactic Navy, Hired Guns, Illegal goods tweak (great for not getting an Offender reputation for accidentally scooping one more tonne of Slaves than you picked up Escape Capsules), Iron Hide, Lave, Lave Academy, MilHUD (essential in combat to make the best use of Military Lasers), Missile Analyser, Missiles and Bombs, Random Hits, Repair Bots and UPS courier.

I'm just wondering what I should add on a new OXP from here..?

Getting back to Oolite after a couple of years away, just installed this:
oolite-1.75.2-beta.linux-x86_64
openSUSE 11.4 64bit, KDE 4.6
Dell Optiplex GX620, Pentium D 2.8Ghz, 4Gb RAM, 160Gb HDD
Dell 2001FP TFT monitor (1600x1200)

Installed and ran without any hiccups. The icon appeared in Games straight away. Attempted a trip to Diso, but crashed trying to dock! Completely forgotten how to get lined up. Controls are very sloppy with just the keyboard, so I will have a look into that and try again during the week.

I also have the 1.65 version on an Acer ONE Aspire 110L netbook running the Ubuntu 10.04 NetBook Remix. Installed and runs OK but haven't tried a trip yet.

Back in the day I ran it on a Win98 PC with a serial joystick and got fairly proficient. 30 years ago I had the original on a BBC Micro! :)
Best wishes

Runs perfectly on a Lenovo Ideapad S205 using Arch Linux 64bit with one minor exception which is full screen mode doesn't work. Selecting full screen does nothing, I'm stuck in windowed mode for some reason.
