youtube down?

has anyone been able to access youtube lately? every time i try, all i get is one (ONE!) line of HTML, resulting in a blank page.
is youtube down?
is my ISP screwing me from behind?
any ideas?

edit: i just tried using the IP address instead of the domain name, and I got in. so that means that my ISP IS screwing me from behind. BASTARDS!

Time to find an ISP who don't take it on themselves to decide what you can look at, I think.. a very snarly letter telling them why you're leaving sounds in order too...

Edit: unless their DNS is having trouble.. but that'd likely affect other sites too..

It is quite unlikely that your ISP is deliberately censoring youtube, sounds like an error to me.

A few things to check might be confirming that you dont have any custom DNS set up. Some viruses for example change dns or hosts files, or your router might have some incorrect config, did you ever tell it to use openDNS or something?

Maybe its worth doing nslookup youtube.com and seeing what it resolves to, and which dns server you are getting it from?

www.opendns.com

So you can use their DNS instead your ISPs default one.. Your ISP might even have a deal with some security business, using theire "secure dns" server, meaning that sometimes you are blocked from going "filthy" places...

i switched to the opendns servers, and i still have the same effect: only 1 line of HTML which results in a blank page. that means whatever is going on, it's not my ISP's DNS servers (unless they capture DNS requests and re-route them to their own DNS servers.)
