You made the same mistake as I did - the bulb changing occurs when Rimmer wants to go to Red Alert - I didn't believe it so I had to check the video myself!!

Many years ago I was lucky enough to be at a Trek/Dwarf convention where Robert Llewelyn attended.
During his question and answer session somebody held up an orange and shouted "What's this Kryten?" - quick as a flash RL adopted his Kryten voice and shouted back "It's and Aardvark Sir"
Classic.

What did everyone think of the Back To Earth trilogy then?
I thought it had its good moments but was ultimately a poor show. Far too much "fanboy" stuff going on and not enough proper story. The Coronation Street bit was quite amusing though.
I was hoping for more of a proper Red Dwarf story rather than the hour's worth of self-indulgent tat that it came out to be (the oher half hour was some good telly). The twist at the end did make up for it in some way though.
Think there will be any more?

Yeah I felt it was ultimately disappointing. There were some good moments in there. I was a bit thrown by the serious emotional moments, which I thought didn't really have any place in show.
Loved all the references to Bladerunner tho. The Tyrell Building next to the Houses of Parliment etc. Well created I thought.
Too sentimental tho, plus points for Cat's Purple Lycra Disco suit.. ha ha

It just wasn't very funny. Red Dwarf is/was meant to be a sitcom at heart and it just didn't deliver the gags. I can understand why they wanted to do something special rather than churn out some 'standard' episodes, but in the end they're a poor representation of what made RD so great (sharp character-based comedy) and I doubt they'll do much to attract new viewers to the repeats on Dave.

Oh, I dunno - my wife now wants to watch all of them to see what all the fuss is about, so that's a win for the specials.Ramirez wrote:... I doubt they'll do much to attract new viewers to the repeats on Dave.
Anyone know if they will be making any more? I thought the point of the exercise was to close off the whole story. The specials have just turned into another basic episode and still left everything open.
Hi think they are planning or thinking about doing a couple more series now. If they could get Rob Grant back on the writing team then I think it'd be good again. Rob Grant and Doug Naylor wrote the first 6 series (which were funny). Then Doug Naylor wrote the last two on his own. Not that Doug Naylor isn't funny, I think if Rob Grant wrote on his own it still probably wouldn't be as good as if they wrote it together. (Out of the books they've written on their own though, Rob Grant is funnier).
