Coming soon: Oolite Deathstar Expansions.oxp!!!

Post by Lestradae »

Dear Ooliteers 8)

I have an important announcement to make!

Soon, there will be a new oxp to rule them all: Oolite Deathstars Expansion!

It will unify the not completely ready (but who the f$&k cares anyways) OSE with System Redux, Famous Planets and Far Sun oxps to create a package with which you, yes any player can become the emperor of the Ooniverse!

The short mission story will enable you to the sounds of the Imperial March -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7KkFcyO ... re=related

- to buy and fly all FP planets and also the newly colourable suns from Oolite 1.73 as player ships! Any system that you completely empty from any sort of opposition - made possible by a formerly top secret equipment item from a certain postal oxp - will change its government type to "Dictatorship" - with you as the Dictator!

For any system thus conquered, you will get 1 million credits per hyperjump paid as taxes by their citizens to you, their new lord and master!

You will be able to conquer systems by simply ramming their planet(s) with your player ship planet - but be aware that the deep space pirates now have NPC planetary formation death star ships, too!

Only problem I am still working out about this is the docking slit - if anyone thought docking Juggernauts, Dredgers or Condors were difficult to get to work, now you never tried getting a flyable planet or even sun into a coriolis docking slit!

Sadly, the docking issue is going to push the release date of Oolite Deathstars Expansion up to a week into the future of the 1st of April!

But I thought some people wanted to know about this already :P

Emperor Lestradae Duval

Reading "All hail Emporer Duval!" every time I launch from a station really has put things (like my farce-fuelled ascent to absolute power) into perspective a bit, yes

Why should the planet go through the docking slid? Better take a planet with a deep ocean and let the ocean swallow the station, do the trade with divers, and than use a volcanic eruption to eject the station back into space.

Main problem with this approach will be that the station is filled with air and is probably airtight sealed. Therefor it will be buoyant and bounce back into space when approaching at the wrong speed or angle.

You failed to include the Solar Systems OXP.

Therefore, I refuse to download this :-P

Lol you nearly had me there! Before reading your post I had envisioned Griff had modelled an actual death star-type ship on the sly and you had found a way to script it in... Still, good one!

Double bluff? Perhaps Griff has secretly modelled a Death Star... (plans hidden in an old R2 unit?)
