Hello, I'm new!

Post by overmage »

Hi, I'm a 20-year old who used to bang away at Elite Plus for fun :P

That's until I discovered Oolite, and now I'm hooked on it just like I was on WoW some time ago.

Hoping to stay in this community for a long time (people here seem far more mature than those on WoW forums :P)

Welcome overmage - and keep your young head away from RockHermits while (head) banging. They have a tendency to be ...errr... solid.

Have fun with this great game and board.

PS: Don't take everything so serious here too - specially my posts, but the welcome is for sure no joke :-)

Indeedy, It is all a matter of perspective. The Britney Spears appreciation forum looks like a bunch of friggin Einstein's compared to the Nuts! Magazine forum for instance.

Ah, I remember being 20. It's always good to see this game is a multi-generational thing.

Hi - I'm new too.

But I thought Elite Plus was a 15-20yo out of production game. It's been almost 25 years since I played Elite! So how & why does a 20yo get his hands on such an old game with all the newer console and online games around?

Second-hand, I expect. (Like the BBC B which I acquired… let's see, must be 24 years ago now…)

Anyway, who needs these console things and on-line games?

Welcome to the forums. Here we may be Oolite, but we're not snobs. 8)

You know those who, having been mugged and stabbed, fired, dog run over, house burned down, wife eloped with best friend, daughters becoming prostitutes and their countries invaded - still say that "all is well"?
I'm obviously not one of them.

Welcome back home, Maegil.

PS: Is it 'stealth read' or 'steal thread'? :-)

One of these days, you have to tell the tale how you escaped the marooning experience ... if you want to. I for one am happy to have you back on the boards!

Wasn't there a really ugly hurricane in your region?

Cheers :D

T'was a sour experience, I'll say that much, and spare ye all of the domestic aspects of surviving with less than US$25 a month... the good thing is that I'm more or less seaworthy and just about ready to sail again.

Also, it pleases me to say that I can once again afford the rum!

Cheers,

Maegil
