Regarding Oxps.

Post by Pitchblack »

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section, but i was reading a introduction to modeling new ships and i stumbled across this:

this entry is added to shipdata.plist, in AddOns/Config then because it has the roles key set to 'pirate'

I am asking because i have an odd way to install oxps because i had some difficulty organizing 30 or so oxps that are unzipped at one time, which resulted in me using my system to organize the files when they are unzipped. Basically I would unzip the files in groups of 10 in separate folders to reduce clutter caused by some oxps being just an oxp and others Being folders Containing other stuff with an oxp.

When I did this I noticed they would unzip with files that were not Oxps, and that the program i used to unzip them would ask me to overwrite some files (mostly readme's but some others)

In short are there any oxps that draw on a resource not contained in a oxp file, or did i make a mistake by unzipping them all in groups, forcing overwrites of some files. If so then Would I Be forced to replace all of my Oxps?

Everything's going to be ok inside the OXPs. Apart from the readmes, you're most likely overwriting just hidden windows/mac files that got archived by mistake.

BTW, those hidden OS files are nothing sinister, they're there to keep track of users preferences.

Still, it might be worth looking at the original readmes, you never know if there's anything interesting in there! :)

Cheers,
