Small problem with Military Fiasco Oxp

Post by Carrotcat II »

When finally finding the missing Leviathan my whole system freezes for a few minutes and when it releases the game is very glitchy, as in it moves every second...

I spin around to face the leviathan which is in the middle of a huge purple blob on the scanner to find the reason my system is slow...

About 500 (completely rough guess and probably very short) military vessels all in a small space...

Fighting them would be futile and landing on the leviathan would be impossible due to the gliching gameplay...

I detonated an energy bomb to kill the ships and that is all she wrote because everything locks up permanantly and I have to force- restart the computer...

Any ideas...

P.S.

Do I have to kill the leviathan???

I think it is a bug in one of the the oxp versions. I used to have it also often with one version. Try downloading the latest version 2.4.1 from the wiki. And no, that is probably not the ship you should kill.

(btw: that newest version will stop working correctly when 1.74 comes out, but for now it is the newest and 1.74 is still far away)

There are many "normal" Leviathans around with that OXP, however, the target one looks the same, but it's "military" escorts as well as the Leviathan itself turn flashing-red and attack...that's the way to distinguish them.

Concerning the amount of ships, no, that's not normal, but the one you have to shoot might have a tough escort that is much larger than the common amount of "rogue" military vessels and thus an e-bomb might come in handy. I did not have one at the time I shot the Leviathan, but luckily it's escort was lagging behind, thus I could kill the Leviathan pretty easily and then run from the escort. You should go to a safe distance and rotate your ship, so that you can use front, side and aft laser...you most probably only will need to shoot once from the side as the front laser cools down in between.

I myself had the "problem" that the Leviathan was always there when I had some tough fights due to other oxp at the same time. That can make things much tougher...

Yes when you know how to attack, any carrier will be very vulnerable. Carriers are just slow and an easy target. (Just as in real live). Carriers depend on defence ships that keep the enemy on a distance.

Therefor I re-scripted it a bit. The first encounter with the pirate Leviathan is as scripted by Murgh, but on a restart of the mission there will be a much more powerful Leviathan that switched into pirate hands. There its defenders will make it more difficult to attack the main vessel immediately. You often need trying to isolate one of the defenders from the pact and kill him of. And repeat that with the other defenders before you can attack the Leviathan itself. All this flying will cost you fuel while the defenders can refuel at the carrier. Probably you also need to go to a station and refuel. (And try to find the Leviathan again)
