Griff Ships Remixed.oxp

This is a the Griff Boa and Griff Kraits, with their performance stats remixed to match their native counterparts. The Kraits are flown exclusively by pirates as attack fighters; the Boas are often encountered as traders with two freelance escort fighters, but are sometimes used by pirates as an assault frigate. The Boa is also a player ship, offered as an upgrade from the Boa Class Cruiser. The Griff Boa's plasma turrets have been made stronger as well, matching pulse lasers in impact power.
As in the original Griff releases, they're better armed than the native ships, and with restatting at least twice as dangerous than the native Krait & Boa 2.

No problem. I simply peeked at the stats of the native ships, and worked it out from there.

I think I broke the shaders of the Boa by squeezing them into an all-in-one, though. :(

Just purchased the fantastic "Griff Boa", from which I received a visit from this chap...

He told me he's from the Pteradyne Tech workshop as an onboard engineer. Calls himself Mr Fixez..., I have to say that this addition as a crew member, he's priceless. He has already increased my speed up to 360 & tightened the handling up. When he finished, he said..

"DIS AS FAST AS A COBBIE NOW BOSS!"

Right on commander, awsome stuff!

Cheers,

How did you manage that? I was under the impression that you can only change the power for all weapons of a given type..

Best wishes,
Oscar

Each turret (or extra laser) is a sub-entry, so you can set the weapons srength of each one individualy if you like. On a big cruiser for example you could give it a Big Gun and dot its sides with smaller turrets.

the ships are very nice... Would not it be possible for Griff to design all oolite ships like those ?

I really dont like the mix of ships around... there are ships that look like right out from the 80s, than the awesome Griff ships that only appear sometimes, but do not mix well with other ships.

I wish I could just replace the original ships with Griff´s!

Perhaps you should consider that those ships are supposed to stem from 2.000+ different worlds in eight differing galactic sectors, hundreds of different species, at least eight different political entities and a broad spectrum of different levels of technological evolution!

No wonder then that they don't mix well with each other, and look like from the 80s up to Griff, is it?

this would result in a variety of paint jobs and shapes, not in some ships having all kind of fancy shaders or lots of polygons, while others look as having been painted at MS Paint, and coming straight out of a 8 bit computer in term of number of polygons.

I think you're wrong - the East German Travant in always standard plain flat grey, Hindustan Oxford (based on the 1950's Morris Oxford) usually in single colour cream, Chinese Motorised Rickshaw - painted whatever colour is available, fully pimped BMW M3 in any colour you wanted, including pearlised multi-tone metallic - four motorised vehicles all produced in the late 80s early 90s completely different styles, complexity and "textures" - and that's just here on l'il ole planet Earth!

And there's always the fact that Oolite is just a game of course and doesn't need any rationalisation at all!

Yeah, but coated with an alloy of handwavium and storytellium playing gets that much more enjoyable, doesn't it?

Hi, CmdrJmsn, welcome to the boards! I don't think I can help you with the original link but Griff's just uploaded a bunch of his spectacular (and specular) ships here.
