X3-Terran conflict

Post by pagroove »

Bought it via Steam,

Yes there are bugs, but I like it. I have now 6 ships. Love the way you can get out there in your space suit and capture other ships. Also love the software enhancements you can buy and the very good graphics. Dont't get me wrong I LOVE Oolite but this is (assuming you have a modern computer and plenty of time) also a rewarding game err.. lifestyle.

The basics are like the old x-games. Learning curve is steep and you are bound to sectors. But the presentation in the new version is IMO more beleivable. The interface is better. The stations are so big it has to be seen to beleived. The graphics are top notch. I like the fact that the economy is dynamic but this also makes it complex for relative rookies like me (although I also played X2 a bit).

HOWEVER it is just not Oolite. So don't expect that when you buy this game. Instead it offers an own gameplayworld.

I must say I was -very- excited when X-BtF was announced, even going so far as to upgrading a PC specifically for it. I was very disappointed at the Sector-based gameplay, so it definitely was not an Elite replacement.

Still, the franchise remains amongst my favourite games.
(Haven't got the new one yet).

Yes 100% agree here but I see XTC as a different sort of space game.
And yes the planets, while beautiful are mere backgrounds. I can achieve nearly the same if I make all textures for Famous planets in HD.

But the other things are cool (If the game is properly patched cause atm there are lots of bugs) But just played it the whole afternoon and it's nice to see your fleet of ships grow.
