NOOOOOOOO!!!! Lost save file!

Post by DaddyHoggy »

My save file has gone! All I've got is the autosave - 100Cr/Lave etc...

AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!

The moral dilemma - do I start again - or do I hack file to put it back to approximately where I was?

Backups: they’re not just for other people anymore.

(I can’t really give trustworthy advice on the hacking issue, because I cheat all the time.)

been there, done that, learned to take backups.

worst one was a few years back, playing X - Beyond The Frontier. Played a good while, traded, got myself a canny specced ship, then decided i'd go exploring, and went all over, drawing a map of the gates etc. then my puter hard drive decided to go silly so i got a new one, did a back up etc.
...except, i managed to forget to back up the save game. 80+ hours of play lost :-(

always backup... i prefer to back up to cd-r or dvd-r should last longer than the harddrives if taken care of properly (ie stored)....then again im sitting on nearly 2000 discs between backup files, saved files, old programs, zipfiles and what not....hmmmmmmm

Well, it may not be the most thorough mechanism for safe-guarding your precious data, but I praise the day Apple introduced Time Machine! :D

I a case of self flagellation - I have started again and now have a copy of my commander on a USB stick as well as a couple of places on the PC...
