SpaceX

I can’t believe no-one’s posted this already, but then, I forgot myself.

Yesterday – or this morning, European time – history was made as SpaceX put a privately-developed liquid-fueled rocket into orbit. Not another playboy fairground ride like SpaceShipTwo, but serious industrial space launch capability that takes us as a species one step closer to conquering the galaxy leaving the nest.

Yes, phew, I was wondering if they would ever have a success, third fourth time is the charm ...

For those who dont know - but do care - the Stage 1 engines are descended from the trusty and mighty F1 engine (they got the Saturn V off the ground). Good to see that technology back in action rather than the 'rocket on a stick' approach of Ares-I.

"A single SpaceX-developed Kestrel engine powered the Falcon 1 second stage"

How will they call the next step in development? Osprey? Gyr? :D
There are only 10 types of Jamesons in the Ooniverse. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
