What is "strict play"?

Post by CmdrLUke »

Sorry for the simple question, I've looked through the wiki and the forum here and haven't found an explanation. I've seen one thing that said that you can't buy ships in strict play.

What are all the differences between strict and "regular" play?

Strict play restricts the player to their original Cobra III, and means you can't run any OXPs. That's it, I think.

The Strict Play mode is as close an equivalent to original Elite as you can get with Elite. All the ships are native (yes, no OXPs), only the original Elite equipment is available (no hardhead missiles, Q-bombs or Witchrive Fule Injectors) and you are restricted to the Cobra Mk. III as you ship. Imagine it as 1982 Elite, with up-to-date graphics.
