i´m using vista, and a works fine here, it fires the laser...

however my pc is a custom build..

Usually the the actions made by the key pressing is to blame, so it could be a graphical error or something related to the sound... which are the two actions, the A key performs... while i think that Oolite allready has build in support in windows for ogg files. the sound format used by Oolite, could you download winamp, find an ogg file and try to play that... winoamp supports ogg files, that i am sure off...

as usual, the first 50 lines of the stderr.txt file would be nice...

What is the stderr? And how would he access it? And where could he find it? His laptop does have problems, it has a big green line at the top, like someone took a knife and scraped the top, he said. Maby i should have him play it here first, to see if he likes it.

the stderr.txt file is a file generated by Oolite each time Oolite is run... it is a logfile so to speak, wheter things are running fine or not...

it is found in the oolite.app directory...

I run Oolite on a couple of Dell laptops, although under XP and they both chug along fine with it (although without shaders, and with fairly significant disc thrashing at various points.

I have very occasionally seen it just bomb out and close the window, but that's normally when I'm coding up an OXP and have had the scripting do something amazingly dumb. Beyond that fairly specialised example it runs OK though.
