On PSP? Just noticed this & a comment USED TO BE ON NES

Hi, NEWBIE HERE

Did someone mention that Oolite was available on the NES? Or was it the original Elite?

There was a version of the original Elite for the NES. There's a list of various versions on Ian Bell's website.

Thanks for that, I still have my SNES STARWING SET, still very playable, Would/could that NES version of Elite run on SNES? I am sure their was some sort of adapter about once upon a time???

Basically the answer seems to be no - although there is is FC Twin thing which can play both NES and SNES games - but that's not the same thing...

I still have Elite for the NES.

And no, it was one of those games which wouldn't run on the SNES adaptor. The main reason is it wasn't available outside of the UK (and maybe Europe.)

It was basically the same as the Spectrum48 version (ie only tribbles (sic) and constrictor missions), but had some cool additions.

1: Pay 200cr to "Auto-dock". Good for those who couldn't fly!

2: 2 player (yes, seriously) Elite. Player 1 controlled the speed and flight controls, player 2 operated the lasers and the ancillary (navigation, trading, etc) controls. Sounds awkward, but was great fun.

I still have a blast on it occasionally. (It's one of the rarest NES games outside of Japan!)

BTW, the version on Ians website is based on the development version for America. IT sort of works, but is very buggy. None of the NES emulators will let it work properly.
