Does anybody remember FOFT?

Post by DaddyHoggy »

i.e. Federation of Free Traders?

I was in the loft looking for something else last night and I knocked over a box of my old Amiga games and there was FOFT.

It definitely wasn't Elite, but I remember it being pretty good - although I remember it had this odd quirk where you could screw up the stock market by buying all the goods of one type - waiting a few seconds and the price would rise - you'd then sell it all back and the price would fall - so you'd buy it all back - repeat ad infinitum.

Had some good music and it's own inbuilt programming language?!?

I remember that one. It was pretty much Elite but you could land on planets and it had some bells and whistles. If I remember correctly I gave up on it because there were so many ships flying around that you hardly ever "jump" to the planet and instead it took two weeks to get there.

I had high hopes for it at the time though.

Heh, yeah I remember FOFT. A nice try to be the next generation of Elite but just didn't quite do it properly.

Good theme tune though, and a nice background story...
