Black baron mini bug ?

Post by Ark »

Today I have made a strange observation during the initiation of Black baron mission. In the initial briefing I read

“The news of your brave assistance to the Qubeenian Royal family has stirred new hope in the hearts of the exiles f Eninre”

But I was unable to find a dependency of long way mission with the black baron one in the script plist of black baron. Is this a bug ?(the only thing that I can assume is that there was a dependency in some previous version and the original author took it back without clearing the missiontext plist)

I am using the latest (ver 1.3) version.

Hmmm. From my memory I would say there is a dependency between Black Baron and Spyhunter. But Longway?

Ah. Errrr....

I wrote that. Ages ago. (in fact it was the first ever script written by a third party. (besides Giles' own example script (Longwayround IIRC))

And there was a dependency but I then rewrote stuff and messed things up and it wouldn't start anymore ...

I didn't have time then to solve it and ripped out the non-working dependency and put it up the way it was w/o dependency

never got around to fixing it again. I know, it should be only a matter of checking thhe other mission was "COMPLETED". But I was in the middle of exams...

and now, years later, my scripting skills have shriveled up and died, I'm afraid so I won't be able to fix it in a timely matter

(I even forgot it wasn't working the way it should..)

I have found this because I am preparing the list with buggy abandoned oxps in order to post it in to the sticky post. So I am doing a meticulous audit to all of them, you cannot imagine the things I have found.
In the list I want to have all their bugs with possible recommendations .Do not expect something soon (I have seriously underestimate the situation – there are so many of them) :x

Perhaps this helps? And if a few tips should emerge how to do something about those problems beyond taking the named oxps out - or even against the memory overflow problem - I would indeed be very, very grateful ...

those error messages are basically saying that there are problems with quite a lot of oxps. I'm looking into swift.oxp, but the way it was created is... let's say unorthodox, for want of a better word.;) From what the log says, you won't be able to see/use quite a few of the 'broken' oxps, so having them in the addons folder doesn't seem to do much good...

Anyway, you might want to load starbelly2.png into a graphic program and save it again as a png.

From what your log says, there are 'a few' problems with that png file, and after 5 seconds of trying to load it, oolite doesn't seem to have any memory left for other textures. Then it runs out of memory altogether.

If that doesn't help, removing all-stars.oxp should allow you to play oolite.

Of course, you might want to try and repair the oxps yourself, all you need to do is to track down & remove every single problem listed in the log! :D

edit: starbelly.png seems to have the same problems as starbelly2.png, and whatever oxp contains the 'tesoura' ship is seriously not doing oolite any good.
Hey, free OXPs: farsun v1.05 & tty v0.5! :0)

About BlackBaron, if you want to fix it: by all means, be my guest. I'd be much obliged. :D
