Aside from affecting the resale value of your ship does the maintenance overhaul have any other effect? Is performance affected or combat damage more likely?
If not then surely it's only worth having it done when you want to sell your ship.

Think mis-jumps and fuel leaks also become more likely if you don't keep your ship serviced.

Can't remember the details, but IIRC it's a false ecomomy to not take up the maintainence. Some items like miltary shields etc are overly expensive, but if you don't maintain them, they are more likely to breakdown when you need them most!
