I have 1.68 installed which appears to work well withexception to anything Assassins related. I only receive a blank page at stations when I know I'm supposed to recieve some sort of news media update related to the missions. I think I've read that this was a problem with 1.68, has anybody found a way tp put this right or is it something for V1.69?
Cheers

Yeah, the problem is the way V.1.68 reads LittleBear's scripts (read more about it here. The only way (at the moment) to run Assassins is in one of the earlier releases, unfortunately.

No need to fret, if you dl the textured planets build by dajt (I'm assuming your using a PC) or one of the earlier versions and just c&p your commander savefile into the Oolite-save folder (and make sure Assassins is in the AddOns folder) it'll still run. Then you can just c&p the savefile back to V.1.68 once you've done.Cos wrote:DAMN and DOUBLE DAMN!!! I guess I better extract the Oxp, I was so enjoying it too.
Cheers for the advice

Yeah, sorry about this Brothers! (Assassins was written on 1.65 and tested on 1.67 before releasing it. BUT 1.68 was written after I wrote Assassins.)
As both Assassins and Ionics change the Ooniverse depending on the player's actions (and NPC actions), thery'll run fine on PC 1.67 and below and should run fine on all Mac versions, but won't work on the beta of 1.68 (PC only). Sorry Commanders, I wrote assassins for 1.67 and below, but the problem should be fixed for 1.69 (PC). You should be able to play Assassins on any Mac version of Oolite, but it will not run properly on the PC 1.68 version. Big A is aware of the problem however!
1.68 is a beta, which our new master and commader is still working on, so expect some things to be broken whilst he works on it!
If you've started playing Assassins on 1.68 (against advice!), you can load the same Commander on 1.65 or 1.67 and it should run Ok. But assassins will not run properley on 1.68 (as it will crash the first time the player or an NPC does somthing that changes a F7 system entry). This is beacause the scipt Command "setSpecificPlanetinfo:" is partly broken on 1.68 and both Assassins and Ionics use this command. So although these OXPs run fine on 1.67 and below, 1.68 "throws a woberly" when the OXP scripts try to use it.
