Addiction
Hey, who has removed the "Addiction"-thread here? And all the other older threads? Or are old threads automatically erased in the Outworld-forum? But why then?
Anyway, I just wanted to say: I've made it to the top 25 posters now! (But the pack is still way ahead of me.)

Re: Addiction (revisited--or better: re-created)
So do you happen to know what has happened to all the threads? The oldest still-accessible thread here is Shiver me timbers!, which was started 26th March 2007. On the other hand side all the stupid old polls are still here, here (very stupid poll), and here (extremely stupid poll).Ahruman wrote:Nope.Commander McLane wrote:Or are old threads automatically erased in the Outworld-forum?
So what's wrong here? Can one of the phpBB-experts find out? Thanks!

So someone is manually erasing old threads in Outworld. Why is that?Ahruman wrote:Nope.Commander McLane wrote:Or are old threads automatically erased in the Outworld-forum?

Maybe it's to do with sunspots or rare weather and geological conditions. Or maybe the Thargoids abducted them to experiment on......Rxke wrote:it wasn't me.
But this has been going on for awhile already, I tried to look up an old post in outworld some time ago (hey hey 16k) and it was gone too...

*pokes about in silly admin interface*
There’s a prune-by-date option, but it appears to be manual. That’s all I can see.

There is an automatic pruning option.
It is set in the General Admin > Configuration section (at the bottom of the first block of controls), then the pruning options for each forum are set individually as follows:
In Administration, go to Forum Admin > Management.
Click the Edit text next to the forum you wish to check.
The last section is "Auto-pruning" and has an enabled tick with two boxes for the timescale underneath.

Aha… changed to every two years instead of every month. May lower it again if we get lots of traffic here.

It's usually best to leave the auto-pruning off completely. There's not so much traffic here that it would really matter anyway... The database will not grow to be too large to manage in years...
